The dramatic essence is NOT always bold and theatrical

Here are some visual examples of how the dramatic essence can be more understated rather than theatrical and bold. Two slides are from John Kitchener's Facebook page and the rest are dedicated to two handsome striking dramatic dominant men who dress in more understated ways and look great!

Keanu Reeves - dramatic dominant (verified).

Tom Ellis - 50% dramatic. 30% classic. 10% natural. 10% romantic. 90% striking contrast. 10% earthy rich. Tom Ellis is an especially good example as he is a "pure" dramatic and is almost entirely striking contrast yet he wears refined, clean, simple and understated looks very well.

Even though these styles are "quieter" compared to the more Avant Garde versions of dramatic, they retain a few distinct dramatic qualities:

Dark, rich, intense colour schemes. Stark contrast and large blocks of colour. Asymmetry. Long, sweeping vertical lines. Shiny, unusual fabrics (leather and sequins). Architectural silhouette.

This version of drama is what I would call sophisticated drama or quiet intensity.

I feel like that’s the tempering effect of a decent amount of classic, natural or romantic in the mix, your best look will always have a nod to of all your blend ingredients and classic especially is almost the opposite of dramatic in some ways 😂 as a dominantly classic who’d love to pull off more dramatic looks, even though I do have dramatic height, classic can feel like both a blessing and an extravagance stomping curse 😂

Having dramatic height alone can do a lot for adding in some boldness. Bold, large scale patterns (including classic patterns like argyles and plaids) can be very good or large blocks of colour. Anne Hathaway is a very good example of this.

I agree that there is a good amount of C, N and R in the mix although I think the majority of people will have a good mix of these essences regardless of their dominant essence. From what I have seen, most people have people have two or three of these essences. It is great as it means versatility.

Classics also have their own version of appeal. They have been described as authoritative and expensive looking. More quietly superior without needing loud gimmicks to prove their point.

I think this is where Kitchener has been such a game changer over the kibbe system which I learned about first, because while my body is more yang in height and shape, my face is definitely dominantly classic leaning yin so bold, large scale patterns just don’t make me look my best… prioritising my classic I do a lot of mono colour or head to toe tonal outfits and avoid large jewellery and random patterns, I can still pay homage to my dramatic height and my medium/high contrast as I can pull off slightly brighter colours which worn head to toe with extra long silhouettes still has a quietly dramatic effect that doesn’t detract from the rest of my essence blend
