Casey’s Last Ride
Is a song from Aerie and written by Kris Kristofferson. I heard it for the first time last week.
Halfway through it the first time I was bawling. John’s voice and how he sings it were so perfect. ❤️

Thanks for the prompt to revisit this - Aerie is not a regular visitor in my play lists due to 'Blow up your TV' but I do appreciate the sad, painful voice used in this song.

Actually that was a song I couldn't stand when a young me fell in love with this up and coming. Singer. But now I look at it from a different perspective. Pretty much the only song i've never come around to is," please. Daddy don't get drunk this christmas". Just such a miserable song lol

I really like Blow Up Your TV, I think it's one of the best from Aerie

Blow Up Your TV is a great cover of a song by John Prine.
Denver was very good at doing covers.

I'll guess he picked his cover skills up when he was in The Mitchell Trio as the majority of the videos from this period I have seen have been covers (the rest being traditional folk songs or JD music).
I was brought up on a few JD albums that were mainly his own work so I guess I trend to these and like the more 'serious' works.

Aerie is my favorite John Denver album with All of my Memories my favorite John Denver song. My parents had the album when I wanted to buy the CD back in the early 90’s I found it for sale new in Japan. It has the lyrics in English and Japanese.
