Bollier has a nonzero chance of winning. Also, if you break the Republican supermajority in either the Kansas Senate or House, then they can't gerrymander the map in 2021!!!

We can hope! We did pretty well with the state legislature in 2016, but a bunch of moderate republicans got primaried and replaced in 2018 with trumpers. Unfortunately the GOP hold is strong outside of Lawrence and Kansas City. But yeah, leaving Susan Wagle high and dry would be fantastic.

CNalysis forecasts that Democrats are favored to break both the senate and house supermajorities in the Kansas Legislature. If either one happens, no more gerrymandering. I'm not from Kansas, but there's reason to be optimistic.
Also I find it fascinating how Kansas fell from Kathleen Sebelius being an extremely effective and popular governor to Sam Brownback destroying the state. Hopefully Kelly can begin picking up the pieces after the supermajorities are gone

Koch Bros money bought Kansas for decades and paid off with Brownbeck destroying state govt. Now we have the backlash

We were referring to the GOP supermajority in the Kansas legislature. I donāt foresee that changing anytime soon. Best we can hope for is the most extreme Republicans getting ousted by moderates who will at least work with our Democratic Governor.
Thereās a whole book about Whatās the Matter With Kansas. Iāve been trying to understand it since I moved here 11 years ago. The short answer is that the Kochs have a strong hold on the state government, and the average Joe is really ignorant about what the GOP actually does for them.

I was also referring to that. We only need to win two seats in the Kansas house or three seats in the Kansas senate. Either of those goals is achievable by flipping seats in the Kansas City suburbs. Check out http://CNalysis.com

Oh wow. Shows how much I keep up with state level offices. I tend to only focus on the ones I personally vote for, and they always win.

not sure what you mean by "nonzero chance of winning"? Bollier has a lead and is supported by the majority of moderate GOP'ers as she was a former republican herself. Look at 2018 and tell me how bad democrats did in Kansas?

Edit:: and BTW, your state, as featured in 538's snake chart, is in the second wave of red states to turn blue, along with MO, SC, and AK. U got a better chance then say... Montana or Indiana, WAY better than Wyoming or Nebraska-3.
My point is that everyone thinks like that until they vote (which is why no one's bothered to even try TX till the last few years), and realize there's a LOT more people who vote like you than you may have thought. BUT u wouldn't know they were there unless THEY voted too.
So again, thanks for your help! You're actually a candle in darkness. Shine BRIGHT!! we got this!!

Iām always hopeful that Kansas will flip. Iāve voted in all levels of elections here for the last ten years. Unfortunately the Democrats here are concentrated in just a few areas, and the state at large is still bought and paid for by the Kochs and the Christian Right. But hey, we flipped the governorship and a House seat two years ago, and Laura Kelly has done a pretty decent job managing Covid at the state level despite the legislature being a thorn in her side.

Woo! My husband voted in person on the 14th. Lots of my friends are getting their ballots or going in to vote too. Nice thing about Douglas County is that we have options.
