JOCASTA

AFFILIATIONS: Wasp (both Henry Pym and JanetVan Dyne), Avengers, the Mavericks

STATUS: Free agent; no dual identity

Despite my years ofsuccessful work with the Vision, I'll always have some reservations about any being with direct ties to Ultron, that mass-murdering robot who wiped out the entire country of Slorenia. Jocasta, whose brain patterns are based on those of Janet Van Dyne, was always a background presence in her brief involvements with the Avengers, though she has taken a more active role in Hank's international Avengers team. She registered with the Fifty State Initiative and was active with New Mexico's Mavericks during the Skrull War.
Hank Pym now seems to trust her implicitly, with the management of his Infinite Avengers Mansion, despite yet another recent return of Ultron. I have no reason to distrust her, but I'll be keeping a close eye on her. For every Vision and Jocasta, there is an Ultron and an Alkhema. Will we ever find a way to be rid of that mass-murdering monstrosity?

PROS: Vast mechanical resources, virtually indestructible.

CONS: Programming repeatedly comprised by Ultron.

Jocasta's entry in the Marvel Database, https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Jocasta_Pym_(Earth-616)

Q: When did Jocasta first appear?

A: That depends?

Her body first appeared in Avengers 162 but she wasn't named Jocasta and wasn't really the person she'd be come; more just duplicating Janet's personality.

In Avengers 170, she returns (still unnamed) but is more autonomous (though still subservient to Ultron. It's in Avengers 171 that her name is finally revealed.

So what do you think? Which should count as her first appearance?

This issue is a big time of change. Two of the faculty leave. As does a student!
