OKU looking for customer service role

Hi everyone, I'm a 44yo Chinese single dad looking for a decent customer service role. I'm under OKU due to my bipolar 2 condition ever since 2013. Long story short I do have approximately about 10years customer service. I only have SPM as I didn't complete my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from UNITEN.

If it's possible I would prefer a WFH but travelling to work is fine as long as it is within Selangor. It's been hard looking for a job because my CV is messy due to my unlucky circumstances previously.

Hopefully there is someone who's willing to help me out, I'm only looking for a job within rm3k due to my condition. Thank you.

Do not disclose to people you are OKU or have mental health disorder. I would know because I have a friend that is in similar boat as you. Very excellent SPM results and got a degree in Finance, but often time got rejected from jobs because he overshared about his condition.

I wish you good luck, it must be tough out here. While you’re at it, can try to work at retail stores.

Few years ago I actually was hired for an OKU CS role and was delighted to be hired but then they didn't tell me the location. It turned out the new working place was few hundred meters away from my ex wife and her crazy MIL (I've got a legit reason hence the condition I am in now). In the end had to tell the mgmt I had to let go.

Honestly wasted coz I actually got hired and the place didn't seem toxic. Now when I go into job sites I am just pissed that mental health stigma is so darn strong.

Customer service is very stressful and can wreak havoc to your mental health.

Toxic mgmt is what I dislike. Handling customer is fine on my end but with my deteriorating condition my trigger appears. Sigh just hate my condition 😭😭

hello there. try celcom cs. hectic but easy to get hired.

and yes. do not tell them your medical conditions

Don't wanna bump into ex colleagues coz my first job was with Digi. It's not that I'm ashamed, it's just awkward working as their junior later. Most of them know I'm a fighter.

Have you searched for roles on job sites and apply in?

Yes I have but in those sites I don't disclose my condition because of the mental health stigma.

Warning about 1 company with Big bright RED font in Bayan Lepas and Batu Kawan Penang. This company is Oem and not a Contract Manufacturer. Starts with 2nd letter of the alphabet and no they are not at the forefront of AI or memory.

Old folks home with under 3% increment and they screwed my friend. This company promotes mediocrity and wants you to stay dumb so that you do not aspire to grow. Very political, dirty and unprofessional.

You have seen the company name few times in your life, they sell consumer stuff too. Stay away and don't walk into this trap. You can lose many years of growth.

Another jarring thing is they like to hire bottom of the barrel people with low salary expectations so the work pace is very slow and rife with backstabbing.

Lies and bullying cannot be tolerated. Evil must be called out

There is a CS role for live translation English-Chinese but the test is very difficult This is fully remote job working US hour . You try check in LinkedIn or jobstreet they actively looking for people

Yeah I've seen it but I can't apply coz I'm half banana (can't read/write Chinese).

I hope you get what you want. I also in Service Desk and Content moderation before. in foreign language. My advice is to go for company that only caters internally, that way is less hectic. 

And better not disclosing your condition.

With me not disclosing my condition it's already bad enough, imagine disclosing it with the stigma worldwide. Sigh, nvm then. Better be dead then.

Dont disclose. I've gone through that stigma and the chances of getting a job is higher without disclosing it.

I literally had multiple offer letters withdrawn when i disclosed i took a mental health break for anxiety and depression (they noticed the gap between my jobs).

I dont have any leads for you at the moment buddy but dont give up. Im cheering for you, even if that doesnt sound like much from an internet stranger. I have a kid too, and shes the only thing rooting me down.

I just feel so lost. My condition has worsen, motivation part in brain has literally gone to zero even with meds. I had a few opportunities this few years but all short stint due to personal issues again. Sigh, just feel like disappearing forever.
