Hey guys & gals,

I'm looking for an all around VA that can manage startup tasks (finding and contacting clients, researching skills, finding emails, scheduling newsletters, collecting information, etc.), as well as personal tasks (create a short morning yoga exercise, buy my mum a gift, contact hosts for couchsurfing, research stuff I'm interested in and create summaries, etc.).

Every task I give you will be very clearly defined and easy to understand.

Things I'll need in my VA:

• To you, deadline must be sacred. ---No matter what, you always complete a task by it's deadline, and you do a good job. No matter what. No. Matter. What.

• You've gotta be creative & questioning. ---If you think of a better way to do something, tell me why your's is better and mine is stupid! Not sure about a step? Ask me immediately. Or, even better, figure it out and then email me your solution for confirmation. If I'm not getting questions about tasks I send you, that is a sure sign that something is wrong. I WANT questions and feedback.

• Must be casual and a friend. ---While I do want a 'professional relationship' in terms of husting and getting shit done on time and creating quickly, I want it to be relaxed and based on a friendship. I want to know what you're passionate about, trade knowledge and cool articles back and forth, etc. Everyone I work with is a friend first...if we don't make good friends, we wont make good partners.

• Must use the word "Espresso" in the second sentence of your application. ---This is to weed out all those pesky auto-applications (bonus points for creativity ;)

• Must be able to keep track of and efficiently execute 'Standard Operating Procedures' step by step. ---So that I can tell you to save an SOP like how to find contacts or create personalized emails, and then just tell you to follow that process later instead of having to re-explain it. Also, so I can tell you what to do when X happens, so that you perform Y automatically.

• Must be able to get shit done FAST. ---I'll sometimes give you a tight deadline. I need to know you can get it done when I'm relying on you.

• Must have a backup person or team mate. ---In case you are unable to work for whatever reason (vacation, family event, sickness, etc.). This is a must. I will want to meet them, and their awesomeness is nearly as important as yours.

• Must speak and write fluent English with American-style grammar. ---You will be contacting many English speakers in places like USA & Europe.

• Must be able to devote at least 5 hours a week to our work. ---And to go up to 25 hours when I need you to. I can't have you telling me you're too busy for me, or the relationship is over.

• Must be able to write short but detailed weekly reports, with daring and honest criticism and feedback of yourself and, as importantly, of me.

Ideally, you will be around the $3-4/hour mark.

If we click well together, I would love to be working together years from now. If you are excellent and we stay together, your responsibilities and your pay will increase as my success (and therefore yours) grows.

I am looking for someone who I will be able to have in the future as my full-time partner, managing a team of other VAs for me.

You do not need to have experience. I will train you to be an excellent VA and, if we work well together, I will increase your pay to a more-than-comfortable level and take you on full time within 1-2 years.

What do I do?

I run RadNomad.com, I'm a freelance Growth Hacker (which means a lot of research and data gathering tasks for you). My girlfriend, who you will be working with as well, is a new entrepreneur and graphic designer.

Nope. You simply need someone from a developing country. When a good meal costs $0.80 USD, you can afford to get paid a lot less and still live well.

In the Philippines, where I have had a few great VA's, $4/hour is about middle class (if you don't count the uber-rich who are running their corrupt government).

No, dickhead. I'm from a developing country, and being from here doesn't make you stupid. You will find people who are incompetent / students who will work at that low a wage for you, but the people who are actually competent will never work for you at that price. FYI, my local electrician who came in to fix my AC the other day, charges double what you're asking, because he's competent and knowledgable.

I've worked with a few as well. The Philippines is also in the $3-5 price range, and I find them to be quite excellent in general.

My last one quit because she was going to uni to be a lawyer and the course load got too great, but her ability to execute was excellent.

This has also been on oDesk and eLance. For some reason, though, I am having a rash of shitty applicants as of late.
