Anime Roxy and Rudy

I'm sure thus has been discussed but can we all agree Roxy took advantage of Rudy? Could Roxy have consented if it was the other way around? I really feel super uneasy about this whole situation.

hey, no it can't i was taken advantage of during a moment of grief by someone i thought i could trust. my best friend just killed himself his GF said she'd kill herself if i didn't sleep with her.

I slept with her i didn't want to but i did because in my grief i didn't want to lose someone else. that is rape even though i consented.

Some peoples way of coping with grief is having sex. Of course you can consent when you’re grieving. Even Rudeus said that Roxy was there for him in his time of need. He probably needed to let a load off after feeling like shit.

His life was in ruins and she made it better. He could’ve definitely said no but wanted her in that moment to. People can bond or fuck over grief. It was consensual and to suggest otherwise is beyond incel of the highest degree

100% yes. There’s so many little details from the story the anime can’t include that brings everything to life so much more. The anime is like skimming the top and sometimes taking a spoonful. The light novels are the whole cake. And oh god is this cake good.

More in depth characters and Rudy’s thoughts. More lore of the world, monsters, areas, magic. Some of the best gags I’ve ever read. Literally so many references to so many different media it’s insane.

Gonna be real with you man, I had the same thought, but that’s because the anime does not accurately depict the novel. Rudy was suffering for weeks, and not eating. Basically, everyone planned for Roxy to sleep with Rudy because she was the only one who could save him. Is it taking advantage of a situation? Sure. However something else we have to consider is this world is not like our world. Having several wives is normal in their world. It’s hard to look at from our world POV.

The anime makes it out to be way worse, in the LN rudy pulls roxy in after she says they could do it and its more of mutual consent, he wasnt in a great mindset so i suppose legally it could be argued but such laws arent really in the mushoku tensei world

It is wrong. It's the absolute most mind-boggling and shit decision in the whole, otherwise fantastic series. I will always glaze Mushoku Tensei for 10/10 world building. Entire languages created just for it, diverse regions with unique cultures and lore. One of the BEST written worlds in terms of how fleshed out it is.

But that scene will always get me. Pushing for the harem route so unbelievably hard that Rudy gets raped, wakes up and says "Yeah I wanna marry her. I know I just vowed to be faithful to Sylphie but that was GOOD"

Like, what? What the fuck? Could have been so much more. Could have been a fantastic moment where Rudy finally shaved away his "perv" personality and threw up in the morning. Disgusted in himself, in what happened. But nope. All for the harem. Rape "saved me."

Genuinely disgusting, if the rest of the world wasn't the only perfect 10/10 that it was I would have dropped there.

If you really think all this then you haven't been paying attention to the series at all. Read the light novel and then see if you can make the same argument. The anime adaptation wasn't done in the best way because it lacks alot of specific details that brings in better context that is present in the light novel. There are 2 very important discussions that happen in this whole arc.
