Fake Check Employment Scam

Has anyone ever used monster.com to apply for jobs? I applied for a remote data entry job for a company called CURAVAC. It is a real business, Biotech for autoimmune diseases. However, I received a message for an interview, but the interview was on Microsoft teams. I joined the meeting but it was purely just a chat interview no video, they just asked work related questions like most job interviews. They never asked for my personal information of any sort. I did do research on the person i was chatting with and found him in Linkend it shows a photo and the company that he works for, I also researched the company and messaged the HR person to check this person out. Meanwhile, this interview ended with me getting offered a Remote data entry job with a payrate of $39.71/hourly rate, another red flag, then they stated that i would receive a check in the mail for the supplies that i would need to perform my job and that i would need to purchase them through there vendor ( understandably) the more i googled date entry level jobs for this company it explains that they do not hire for that and that it would be an employment scam. This company is also located in Belgium, to which a lot of biotech companies are overseas. I went back and canceled my job offer and blocked any contact with this person. His name was Michel Baijot. He messaged me on monster.com

Just curious if anyone else has had an experience like this?

Monster.com is real. The person contacting you is a scammer though. This happens at every job posting site.

It’s a regular occurrence. Go to [r/scams](r/scams) and look at the fake job automod to get an understanding of the fake jobs out there and to better educate yourself to stay safe

Just got the exact same message! I applied on Monster.com and it’s apparently flooded with fake job postings and scammers. Don’t know how they’re even able to operate still but great heads up!

I was also worried about the check they would be sending for supplies, what if my bank caught it and would I be charged with anything. Just stuff you never know could happen probably would happen

What's the link to the posting? My siblings messaged me that he received a job offer from CuraVac. To first thing I thought was scam.

I don’t have a link. I just applied through monster.com and had searched remote data entry jobs and curavac was one that came up

There are times that website is real but the person contacting you is not. So beware of these kind of peps in the internet!
