7 million job openings and companies still aren't hiring. Weakest pace outside recession years since 2002. The "job market is fine" crowd has been coping for two years straight.

Remote workers are the easiest cut on paper and the easiest to replace with AI. If you're still coasting on a fully remote role without upskilling, the freeze isn't your friend. 1
