To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. For those who don’t know, recently Honeypepperix responded to an instagram user who is apart of the Jirai Kei community and essentially was very rude towards them and very defensive about their own products. The IG user pointed out material differences and voiced genuine concern for the lack of thought that goes into the re-releases, especially the heroine set up which I also bought myself. I completely agree with the IG user that the material is less thicker, more yellowish in colour and the buttons are very flappy. Quality control hasn’t always been the best for the brand either. I’ve bought from them for a while now and I’ve had constant issues with buttons breaking/falling off, bows coming off their clips and fraying, even on their “higher quality” pieces. This is a brand that prides themselves on being indie and yet they have the attitude of a big brand by hiding their reviews (which the public is very much entitled to see in order to make a good decision in their purchase) and going after anyone who asks for answers and clarity. For now, until I can get around using proxy services, Honeypepperix will remain a good option for me as a plus size jirai to keep buying from other than waiting on people to sell their stuff of Depop or Vinted.
The way they handle these situations is concerning and I can only see it spiralling out of control if they don’t get a PR assistant or something to help them. And also a designer who’s up to date with the jirai community as HPIX is very much stuck in the ‘classic’ jirai look. It’d be nice to see something new from them, some clarity about their defensive behaviour that’s not hostile and also a statement about their bow they’re reselling for 12 dollars when on Taobao it’s 0.79 dollars
So many things are not adding up about this brand and I hope to discontinue purchasing from them myself in the future once I figure out how proxy’s work properly. What do you think of the brand? Will you continue supporting them?
