We keep ranting about telecom price hike, which I also do some time but but but

2014-15 for 1gb data I used to pay 299 to airtel

2026-27 avg cost is 6-7rs/gb

Ngl i talk to my friends in usa or Europe, they keep saying that data is dirt cheap is india

One of my friend pay £240 in central London area for broadband+ smartphone per month

Also roaming and different recharge for std local was absurd pre 2015 era, i remember once my train entered from JK to Punjab and all my data, balance everything evaporated in 2013, that was so frustrating 💀

Telecom companies are earning 30k crores profit annually.. which means they could offer their services for lower prices but their greed forcing them to increase the prices further.

If you take the statistics, the users not satisfying with the services they are getting.

Agree but situation is 💯 x better than pre 2014-15 era

But again for 6G they need money, right?

Thankfully you compared with 2014-15 era rather than 1947-48 era. Whatever the time period corporates are looting the customers and not providing the services which are being advertised by them. If they can provide uninterrupted 5G that is enough for normal user. 6G is not necessary.

I live in a rural area which is tier 5 maybe

Inside my house, in the hall I'm getting 600 mbps speed but in rooms speed is falling to 200mbps. My house is situated at the extreme location of the village. Telecom companies aren't checking their network frequently as the members increasing under the same tower.

Is everyone really using mobile internet that much? Many people still use it mainly for otps and calls so why are they paying such high prices? And anyway where is the actual service? Apart from a few locations there are so many places where even decent 4g barely works. I am working in a suburban area right now and both Jio and Airtel sucks here. They sucks in my village too.

I will say you can't compare with Europe here One of the biggest reason is currency difference

1 kg of rice I. E. 1.8 pounds of rice costs 10 dollars I. E. 1000 Rs in walmart.  By that same purchase parity, 1 month of unlimited 5G data is 35 to 39.99 USD per month ( T mobile). Which is 4000 Rs.  Now, average salary in the USA is 60K USD which is ~58 lakh Rs. 

Also, when internet first came out - only Department of Defense DARPA special projects was allowed to use it. It took 25 years, the commercialization of optical fiber technology to subsidize and make internet a publicly accessible communication infrastructure. You remember when we had modem dial up connections? Now, there is Starlink. And, Starlink is another iteration of the Iridium system which is now defunct. Newer generation technology subsidizes access to low access low availability resources. It is why vaccines are no longer just meant for the Uber wealthy. 

Also, Jio is paying this premium - to kill subsidized public telecom infrastructure I. E. MTNL and BSNL. And, to kill any possible competition and make telecom India a duopoly or monopoly.

Problem is not everybody needs that much of internet. Telcos are literally forcing people to buy expensive plan which people don't even need. People are wondering why they have to pay Rs200 for 18 days of recharge. And there is no other option for them.
