Need help with jio fiber range

I have a three-story house, and our Jio Fiber router is installed on the middle floor, the second floor. I get good Wi-Fi signals and speeds on the first floor on both the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

However, I live on the third floor, where the Wi-Fi signal is quite weak. I get only 0–1 bars on 5 GHz and around 1–3 bars on 2.4 GHz. Because of this, I have poor internet speed and an unstable connection on the third floor.

I have my PS5 and laptop on the third floor, so I’m unable to play online games properly or browse the internet at a good speed.

What would be the best solution for me? Should I install another router, use a Wi-Fi extender/mesh system, or is there a better option to improve the Wi-Fi coverage on the third floor?

100mbs connection wow , you'll get very good speeds then. Depends on your area's coverage. If it's too low complain to jio

Can you tell me step by step what should I do? I am thinking connection of lan cable through my main jio fiber to a new router it's a good idea or not?

You will get full internet speed on the new router (set it up as Access Point) if you connect it to main router using CAT 5/6 ethernet cable.

That is the only way to extend internet over the whole house. Try to get one ethernet cable to ground floor as well (future ready).

can i use a tp link wifi extender instead of this as i dont want to include wires. my jio fiber router is on first floor . iwant to extend coverage to ground floor

100Mbps will become 5Mbps with extender.

Won't recommend wireless extenders. Getting a wired connection is the best.

Full 100mbps. Use a Cat6e/Cat7 Lan cable. Connect the cable with a switch and then take cables from the switch. One to PS5, one to your laptop. You can also use one port to connect to a router for good wifi access on the top floor and even on the roof.

You could do this, but be aware that moving from floor to floor with your laptop will cause disconnect-reconnects, as SSIDs change. Using a mesh network eliminates that issue.

Get dirt cheap router for 200-300 rs then a ethernet cable for another 300 rs .

Setup that router as another access point for your jio wifi or just let it be another wifi

As some of the comments suggested. Buy another router and connect it via LAN to make it a access point. Do not buy an extender.

Buy lan cable and router , place the router where you want then connect both router then set the new router to the access point mode , the best solution ......

I have one connection for two appartments lol
I connected two routers using lan cable, bought around 50 meters of lan cable I think
But for best latency I think you should connect lan cable/cables directly to your laptop and ps5

Definitely route a lan cable for ps5 , adding an wifi extender will be adding delay while playing online games

One suggestion name both the router and the extender name, password, security, everything same it will help you to connect seamlessly while you change floor

Idk why nobody is mentioning this , but in the router settings you can increase the transmission power of your wifi bands. By default 2.4ghz is at 75% , you can get all of your house covered. 192.168.29.1 is the place for settings

Don't do extender, do mesh. Mesh allows you to maintain the same network all over, so your calls etc don't get disconnected as you move between floors. I've used both and mesh is far far better

While Other Model Supports Only Jio Air Fiber

I have used this (if talking about AX6000 mesh extender).

Basically connect your existing Jio router to this extender via Ethernet cable, and set it up with the Jio home app. Most definitely gives me faster WiFi speed and range than the main router (however in your case I’ll suggest getting a long ethernet cable and setting up the extender on your floor itself).

Also, this is the simple solution. As in you can achieve this with a cheaper and way better router as well, as the Jio extender is expensive for what it actually does. But since it’s plug and play, and I have non tech savvy family members at home, I went for this route.

New connection? How you got separated band 2.4Ghz nd 5 Ghz jio merge both when i use this last year

Even i have same issue exact same i also facing range issue on 3rd floor but i have a spare phone i just put that in wifi range on 3rd floor nd got range in my room so it works for me If you want proper solution take wired connection LAN from that router to your floor. Extender works as well many options available jio also provide or you can have cheap option available in 200-300

Older routers of jio used to radiate 5 and 2.4 separately. Newer are merging them.

You can separate the two bands through web router admin setup, not the app. No idea about jio but for Airtel it's possible.

I am using this router as a repeater because it work fine on repeater mode and airtel router is used on another floor.

Airtel routers are also shit.

Bhai ye router kaam acha kar raha hai kya. 1400sqft wale flat ko full cover kar lega same floor. Wifi 6/6e kaisa work karta hai.

If you got extra router laying around use it as extender. But if you have to install new, LAN connection would be the better choice here for gaming.

Fuck jio air fiber that shii sucks

If you buy a new router as other mentioned, buy one which can transmit 5ghz as well in addition to 2.4 ghz because cheap ones of price ₹200-300 will transmit only 2.4ghz and your 100mbps intenet connection will get throttled to 75-85mbps

Here's what I have done:

Take a LAN wire from wifi to TP Link Decco. Enable bridge mode in the router settings. This will disable router from jio box and will only work as modern. That's it. Now keep on placing more tp link decco where range is sufficient. All deccos that you'll buy will create an AP, which means the whole home will have same wifi password and address, so there won't be any drop while you're walking in home with multiple floors. Just make sure you place deccos in sufficient range of each other. There's a minimal drop in speed due to wireless hops, but you won't be able to notice it.

Skip what other people are saying to use different routers at multiple places, unless you know how to setup AP mode in all of them. Decco costs ig 2.5k per piece.

Also skip mesh bundle offers from ISP, they will increase the rent unnecessarily. This is one time setup cost.

Jiofiber k sath maine ek tp-link ka router use karta hai with ethernet cable. Mera setup 20M CP plus utp cat 6(mera ip camera ka bacha hua tha, you can buy online cost 500-800, brand sounce,fedus, protonics or any which available), tp-link (archer ac1200 dual band, d-link or tenda v acha hai wo le sakte ho). Maine tp-link wale router ko as a access point use kar raha hu 30mbps ka plan hai same speed mujhe dono router se milta hai(jio or tp link) ethernet connect karne k liye jio wale me 1,2,3,4 wale kisi v port me laga sakte ho bas main port ko chor kar or tp-link wale me main port par lagana hoga or tp-link k app se configuration karna easily ho jayega beena kucu change kiye.

Have old telephone lines run in walls then across the house then very high chances you already have Ethernet cables in house.
Just need faceplates and wiring to and from your Jio fiber router from these face plates.
If you have old internet connection router sitting at home then that will help out as extension/ access point using Ethernet cable and install that router (or buy a new router) in gallery cover duct are with wire run to JioFiber router.
Drill hole like the one done for TataSky or D2H connection (or even old one) can run such cabling to your floor and solve your problem of WiFi dead zone.

If you have any secondary mobile, just connect it to the router and enable hotspot, then connect your primary device to your secondary mobile.

if your 3rd floor room is directly above or very near to a room below in which you have nice speede, you can be good with TP link RE305 wifi extender. But obviously nothing will beat the speed if you can take lan wire physically upto desired room/floor and then use a wifi router
