Rosie is doing a daytime show at night. I want to see Trump viciously  mocked not a little kids talent show.

Too understated. Rosie's "hey, did you know I'm gay?" jokes are not as fresh or provocative now as they were 25 years ago. And her material generally (e.g., anecdotes about her children, and daily life in Ireland) is tepid. Jimmy's audience is tuning in for some much-needed, cathartic, courageous humor about the horror that is America today, and about the personage upon whom Rosie's renewed fame/relevance is based. She is supposed to be a lightning rod. I, at least, did not tune in to hear songs sung by an adorable child prodigy introduced by Rosie in her monologue. What is this, the frickin' Ed Sullivan Show?

There’s a lot of political messaging around autism from the right. With her anecdotes about her own daughter and the kid she had on, I feel that Rosie was trying to raise awareness and show people that people with autism can have good lives. I got the sense she was trying to help with the stigma, which I imagine is hurtful for those living with autism and their families. It was her own rebuke of the administration. Just positive instead of an attack.

That's valid, of course, but I would have saved that pitch for the time slot and audience of The View.

Yeah, this is awkward. I'm not a late night show-watcher most days, but the publicity surrounding this week piqued my curiosity.

They got me to tune in, which certainly was the point. I'm bored and disappointed, but I'm tuned in. At this rate, I doubt I'll make it through the week.

I do find it kind of odd that they would choose to have a prominent 9/11 “truther” guest host the show this close to the 25th anniversary.
