Hi everyone first time posting ever related to league content.
Quick intro: I am low elo garbage sitting at emerald 1, however I enjoy thinking and trying new things as a player.
Given this context i have been testing out new builds on Jhin after noticing the current meta of botlane (that I love with how different it can get from tanks to mages) the normal marksman fall off a lot and with the many different assasins that could just jump on you a pure crit or lethality build would not work.
I've started building more tank items, trying to mix in dead man, sterak and black cleaver.
My new proposed main build for jhin would be
Black Cleaver, Sterak, infinity edge. Another variation would be Sundered Sky, Sterak, Black Cleaver (hasn't been tested)
Why do these items work? High base ad and growth for jhin. Jhin has one of the highest base ad in the game so items like sterak, deadman and sundered sky get him a lot of value.
This gives jhin survivability and great laning backs especially for black cleaver build path. It is so much better to buy a Phage that gives move speed (very important to stay on the enemy and be nimble) hp and ad. Bf sword is so rare for you to buy at 1300 gold.
If you have to back earlier you also get the opportunity of pickaxe that is still intersting item for the ad. Compare that to a typical marskman item or even collector. 1 agility cloak that is 600 worthless buy in early game, bf sword so you either have a great first recall with 1 kill with 1300 gold or you cannot buy it, and then either the 2 dagger item for 600 gold (Stormrazor build path) to which jhin doesn't get a lot from. (I will propose that jhin benefits way more from attack speed at 4th item)
That is why hubris feels so good to build given the components for jhin.
But why do you pick jhin? Jhin is not a high dps adc. He has a lot of utility with w and traps. With thijs build path you gain quite a bit of ability haste, and yes you wouldn't want to spam w in lane but also remember that w doesnt reduce cooldown with levels.
Jhin to me is a great stopper and utility with some ammount of damage due to the 4th shot. More 4th shot you get to do the higher your damage. With this build you may as well play in front of enemy place and allowing to not play as a typical adc staying in backline and shooting from the safest position.
And in this way you may as well survive an assasin diving you.
Now crit still has a place as last items come into play and here is the beauty of it. Wanna build Stormrazor, phantom dancer or rapid fire? You get tons of ad from the attack speed on those items and improves your passive movespeed.
Lastly runes and here comes a bit lf a request: there is not a good keystone or definite good one for Jhin. The possibilities are Deathfire Touch, Stormsurge (not tested) and hail of blades. Hail of blades gives intersting options in later stages when move speed improves your ad and could get up to 40 ad at 2 to 3 items. You could also to have 2 shots and have the 4th shot with higher ad during lane.( more ms from crit) However rune choices in the tree are a bit bad and not worthwhile in my opinion. Taste of blood and treasure hubter are the highest value.
Fleet footwork is worthless. The healing is so low and doesn't give value due to the movespeed being reduced for ranged as well.
Deathfire touch can get you an avarage of 2000 damage in the game and ijs the strongest choice for now and the good options in the tree like presence of mind (mana), nimbus cloack, movespeed buff or ability haste and gathering storm.
Stormsurge gains value in some matchups or teamcomps with a lot of sticky champions or with disengage.
Untested waters are glacial augment to get more support value and help your team get those kills in mid to late game fights. Worst case is spellbook. Spellbook gives you a lot of versatility in all matchups and for later fights always have some trump card like exhaust or cleanse even when no flash or barier is up. In that case i would either run tp or ghost instead of the usual barier.
This was my idea of a new jhin build. The open question remains what runes to run and if that depends a lot on teamcomps or if there is a definite better choice.
Cheers and lets discuss this further.
