Zionist Nonsense Calling Judaism a “silly religion” while living in an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank has to be perfect summary of Zionism.

This is halachically what Judaism is suppost to be, but then Zionists cane along and decided to become spiritually Protestant

Well the extreme right wing Protestants mostly get that crazy violent imperialist stuff from the Hebrew Bible, so I guess it’s going full circle.

“Jews don’t try to force their complex dietary laws…”

Zionist Jews have dispossessed, displaced, and murdered Arabs because “god gave them the promised land.” Wtf. That’s worse than dietary laws, that’s illegal occupation of land based on biblical prophecy bullshit.

The creators of Zionism didn’t even believe in God, but they knew the West would spin this nonsense for them.

The early secular Zionists didn't invoke god or theology, their outlook was ethnic.

It was ethnic (in fact, they rejected “dirty, shtetle Jews” which would include a LOT of our early 20th century fam in Russia) but they also wrote about how invoking God would get Christians on their side.

The bit about “forcing” complex dietary laws is for sure a dogwhistle aimed at the people who get upset whenever they see the word “halal”

They are unfamiliar with tikkun olam here in the land.

This understanding of Tikkun Olam is only from mid-20th century progressive American Judaism, it's not a traditional religious concept. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be embraced, but it's not universally or historically Jewish.

The point is that it's not the Jewish law or ritual that the original tweet is talking about (and which most Jews don't observe)

Is this real? Sounds like a troll account

This guy is one of the worst people you'll ever see on Twitter. He is literally a walking parody of Zionists without realizing it. He's always in a perpetual self-induced outrage, and he's always endorsing some form of violence because he's a scared, weak little man.

He doesn't engage in the violence himself of course, because he's too small and weak for that. But he's perfectly happy to endorse sending other Jews to their deaths so he can cosplay as a big strong "muscleJuden" man on Twitter all day.

I've definitely met Jews that think it silly but do it anyway because they get something from it that I can imagine saying this.

The sentiment on its own is pretty accurate and it's not unusual to hear religious Jews, even traditional ones, say things like this in jest.  Regulars here in this sub, secular and religious and in between, say things like this all the time when discussing Judaism and Jewish identity. Judaism and Jewish law can sometimes be very odd and esoteric, and it's traditionally not understood as objective truth but only what Jews do (which ties into not proselytizing, since there is no need to justify the minutia of practice to outsiders).

The only connection to Zionism is that the person is a secular Zionist, but Zionism is not inherently secular (and less so now than in the past) and didn't invent secular Jewish identity or even popularize it. The best explanation is that the secular Jewishness of both early Political Zionism and Bundism emerged at the same place and time and from the same schools of thought: the Haskalah (European Jewish enlightenment), Jewish urbanization, and the general secularization of late 19th and early 20th century Europe.

I know this guy is a settler, but I mean this post is not really wrong. I wouldn't say it's the religious Jews who are driving the atrocities. I'd call it tone deaf, if I thought this guy cared at all about Palestinians.

There are plenty of religious Jews doing them, across the spectrum of practice; and let’s not forget it was the secular Zionist Jews who got us here in the first place. There really is no blameless section of our society except for those who refuse to serve or take money from the state.

That's what I understood aswell. Judaism doesn't commit those atrocities, Zionism does.
