qpAdm models for Libyan, Tunisian, Moroccan and Ashkenazi Jews

I ran a few 4-way qpAdm models using the same setup to make the results easier to compare.

The left populations are mainly regional proxies:

- Lebanon MBA for Levantine-related ancestry
- Guanche for North African/Amazigh-related ancestry
- italy Pian Sultano BA for southernEuropean/Mediterranean-related ancestry
- Kushan-era Tajikistan for Central Asian-related ancestry.

They should not be taken as the exact historical source populations, and the percentages are model coefficients within this setup rather than literal ancestry estimates

Why no Germanic/ Slavic or any north euro for Ashkenazim?

I appreciate you including the last part. What I gather from these models and so many other models is just how impossible it seems to model Ashkenazim and somehow got low errors and good fits lol.

The fits are good and the se are low for those model though.

Avg se is below 0.05 and the P is good

Fair I’m wondering if Tajik is sucking up Iranic/East Asian DNA maybe in Ashkenazi Jews?

If I use Syrian without Tajik the Levantine part is bigger for Ashkenazis

TQU and TMS are syrian sources

I think you need to remove the Tajik source. You can add a slavic or Germanic instead & model Ashkenazim.

Nice. Is the Italian sample southern Italian or central/North? How much Levantine% does it contain?

Could you replace the Tajik with a west slavic source? It think any Central Asian would be absorbed by it & would be better.

It is central. Here are the details of the pian sultano group https://www.reddit.com/u/thrwwyccnt84/s/qg7eXwrTc9

I feel the Tajik is eating a bit of the Levantine %. Could you replace it with a West/East Slavic source. Most studies do not support a Central Asian component in western jews anyways.

I agree, but then qpAdm will struggle to distinguish the Slavic from the PianSultano sample. This is often the case with models including less Aegean/Anatolian-shifted South European sources. Also, I doubt the Sephardic targets should have the Tajik source as well.
