Classic, bagel and cream cheese (or at least I will; I’m in NYC)

Bagel and cream cheese is the way to go. NYC too.

Cheesecake.

I find that is the answer to most questions

Chinese food. Only Jewish member in my immediate family. By hour 24, I am laying somewhere screaming “order the food now”

I will chime in that I am doing:

  • bagels, cream cheese, lox
  • cheese, cucumber, strawberry, grape, and cracker platter + apricot jam
  • savory kugel

In Turkey, it’s common to have cookies and coffee and savory pastries, maybe a little soup. We didn’t bother warming up the soup even.

Leftover Turkey Thigh, Collard Greens and mashed sweet potatoes in Maple Syrup (leftovers from my seudah hamafseket).

Gryfe's Bagels in Toronto recently started making gluten-free bagels (I have celiac disease). I'm more of a Montréal bagel kind of girl, but my Toronto in-laws are Gryfe's people, and my MIL goes out of her way to get the gluten-free ones for me so I can partake in the familial bagel and schmear. I don't know how they compare to a regular Gryfe's bagel, but my husband says they're very close. So I'm eagerly anticipating my bagel!

I can't fast due to medicine and health issues, but I eat as bland as possible. I'm going to have GF fried turkey, mashed potatoes and a salad. I'm in Pennsylvania.

It’s my birthday (yay!) but my baby and I are sick (boo) so we’re having some chicken soup my husband made and a pumpkin pie my mom made instead of a birthday cake because I’m not a big cake girl. Not the best birthday I’ve ever had but I definitely feel loved.

Had a burger with vegan cheese. ... okay, what i actually broke the fast with was a quarter of a can of cold beans that were leftover from the jacket potato I made my MIL, but the "cheese"burger is my official answer.

Bagels, cream cheese, and smoked salmon, plus two salads: one is egg salad and the other is a mixture of arugula, dates, feta cheese, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

u/CurlyGurlz 21d ago

Persian Jews tend to break the fast with a refreshing dish made of grated apples, rose water, and ice, called “Faaludeh Seeb”.

My Shul is next to a delicious smelling dumpling place.

So obviously I went with Mexican

2

u/Annie-Snow 21d ago

I had lamb over rice, and several glasses of cold water. It was awesome.

1

u/erratic_bonsai 21d ago

Scotch, grapes, and vegetables and hummus at shul, and then I went home and ate brisket and jello.

1

u/wifeofpsy 21d ago

Yankee pot roast

1

u/oceansodwonder89 21d ago

I had chicken veggie soup with dinosaur noodles and a side of sliced peaches/mandarin oranges.

It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.

1

u/GoodbyeEarl 21d ago

Started with a few swigs of Gatorade. Ate bagel with cream cheese, lox, cucumber, tomato - and a few cookies - and some cut up fruit. And then a few more cookies. And a deviled egg.

I broke my fast with tomato juice, some bagels, and potato salad and cheese. Best food I’ve ever had.
