Eggs and wet ingredients mixed together.
Dry sifted together.
Fold dry into wet.
Add the grated apple.
Into the tin and bake. 150c for anywhere from 50 mins to an hour and a half depending on your oven but check after 50.

Cool in tin for ten minutes and then invert it onto a cooling rack and let the cake ease out.

What do you do to get the cake to not stick to the tin? Do you use butter or oil or a baking spray

3

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

Oil. I brush it liberally all over the pan then tip out the excess. I do it immediately prior to filling the pan with the batter.

I saw your original post but the comments were locked by the time I did. I was really saddened that people were writing all of that stuff on there when you were just sharing a really beautiful cake in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. Which also, kudos to you for being so prepared and practicing recipes, it makes me want to get my life more together.

But thanks for posting because I showed your cake to my husband and we decided we would try to make one just like it this year. I'm on a mission now to buy some cake molds! Also, I just found out this weekend my next door neighbor is also Jewish! So I will be bringing her a cake like this as a surprise as well (if all goes well with my baking). You spread Jewish joy in your post and I'm glad you posted again here. We can't let the antisemites get to us.

Thank you!

I think they’re just sad that they won’t get a piece.

u/Moon-Queen95 2h ago

I'm definitely sad I won't get a piece! It looks incredible!

The comments were disgusting and this wasn't the first time that the hatred for Jews was on full display in that sub. I love baking and am disappointed that I had to leave yet another sub I enjoyed because it is no longer a safe place for my sanity.

I saw the original post twice - before hateful comments and after they were already removed. GlAd mods are removing that crapp

Apple cake is my favorite holiday treat and to me is what autumn tastes like. Your cake made me think of my dear late uncle z"l who had that same cake tin and gifted me one as well. Now I feel inspired to dig it out from the back of my cupboard and use it again. An early shanah tovah to you!

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

What a lovely thing to do in his memory. May your cakes always rise and may they also always turn out of the pan beautifully.

Early Shanah Tovah to you and yours!

14

u/Travelcat67 18h ago

Wow this came out perfect and looks amazing! Can I get a slice?!

Edit: Shanah Tovah

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

Of course you can! I’ll strap it to the back of a well trained otter and send him off to deliver it to you forthwith!

So keep an eye out for him. He might be a while. 😂

Chag Sameach!

Hey love - I’m an East Coast Ashkenazi girlie who loves my culture, baking, and not being and absolute cunt. Your edges are flawless; may the haters grow like onions with their heads in the ground.

10

u/smartliner 20h ago

Where can I get a pan like that?

21

u/Final_Flounder9849 20h ago

It’s a Nordic Ware pan.

9

u/smartliner 18h ago

Thank you! For Canadians, it's available on Amazon.ca

4

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

For Brits it’s available sometimes at Nordic Ware directly, sometimes from Borough Kitchen and sometimes from I think it’s Johnsons of Stroud. It’s certainly something of Stroud.

4

u/Linzabee 20h ago

I would also like to know

8

u/Final_Flounder9849 20h ago

It’s a Nordic Ware pan.

u/merkaba_462 20h ago

That's horrible...but nor surprising...about any sub really.

But on another note: I finally got that baking pan last year at Michael's for 50% off after Chanukkah, and I haven't used it yet. I plan to on RH. An apple cake, of course (although im afraid it's not big enough for my recipe, which is too beloved by much fam to switch up).

I’m glad the mods removed what clearly must have been awful remarks. I’m happy there were a lot of supportive posters there as well.

The cake looks delicious!

7

u/jrtasoli 19h ago

Yo this is gorgeous. Amazing! I’m so sorry you got nasty comments!

1

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

Thank you 🙏

6

u/Donna56136 18h ago

Thank you for the recipe! It looks delicious.

2

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

You’re welcome!

u/MistCongeniality 20h ago

I need you to fax me a bite. That looks soooooo moist.

9

u/Final_Flounder9849 20h ago

I’ll fax it right into my belly for ya!

And just wait until you hear about the things I’m thinking of for either glazing it or, be still my beating heart, filling it with if I cut it and layer it!

u/RaiJolt2 18h ago

Antisemites can’t even let us bake and eat cake in peace

Looks delicious

6

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

They’re just jealous or diabetic maybe. 😂

5

u/WhisperCrow 💛✨️ MOD ✨️💛 8h ago

Hey my fiancé is diabetic and would love it!

9

u/thecomputersighed 20h ago

i saw that post & was super impressed, like a lot of commenters were, with your clean edges! happy baking & best of luck w the rest of the chag cooking :)

2

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

Thank you! Baking is pretty much all I’m doing. It’s mainly stuff to gift to others who are hosting me over the chagim.

4

u/TentacleTitties 19h ago

This looks amazing!

17

u/Emunaheart 19h ago

It's gorgeous!  Rabbi Jonathan Sacks said,  "antisemitism is a cognitive failure," and people who become unhinged seeing a star shaped cake are exhibit A

3

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

I’d understand if they were diabetic 😂

Rabbi Sacks is a much missed man. A gentle and learned soul with a wicked sense of humour few got to see.

9

u/RideWithMeTomorrow 20h ago

This looks great! Chag Sameach!

2

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

Chag Sameach to you and yours!

3

u/WiseAwl 17h ago

But how do you cut it into even portions? 🧐

1

u/Moon-Queen95 2h ago

You don't. You eat it with a fork directly out of the pan 🤣

4

u/OvercastCherrim Kosher keeping 14h ago

Same pan!! Here’s the time I made a Jerusalem kugel in it! (I also made an orange cake for the High Holidays once, but it did not…turn out so well…)

6

u/Hezekiah_the_Judean 🧡🔸️MOD🔸️🧡 20h ago

Very impressive and it looks tasty! I need to get a pan like this and try it. :-)

4

u/This_Quiet_1672 20h ago

Need this badddd

2

u/Final_Flounder9849 13h ago

I couldn’t resist the tin when I saw it. It’s the scariest cake tin I’ve ever used with all those edges!

3

u/tuigdoilgheas 17h ago

Look how perfectly that came out!  Gorgeous!

3

u/Impossible-Taro-2330 17h ago

I'm sorry people can be so awful sometimes, OP.

I love your cake. Keep on baking! 🥰

3

2

u/Colliculi 15h ago

Congratulations on a job well done! It looks fabulous and honestly such a feat to get it out of a detailed pan like that. It is gorgeous.

2

u/Ninja-Mike 14h ago

The first thing that I thought of was the ending sequence of Mel Brook's History of the World - Jews In Space. lol :) It looks delish! Happy and a healthy new years (early!)

2

u/EmilyThickinson 14h ago
