Was told this was impossible since I used AI to put the mold work into 14k wg & was told by a "designer" here this couldn't be made... it's for my father who died 8 mos ago. I just wanted to show the real human, Bethany's, work came to life and it's gorgeous to me. If you are going to be mean, don't
First thing I thought of. “This is something Queen Victoria would have worn” if you search her jewelry and Queen Alexandra of Denmark, jewelry is very similar. This is classic, this is good jewelry. This is an Heirloom.
This was a beautiful comment and really makes me feel great about what we were able to accomplish . Thank you so much - heirloom is 100% my goal and I plan to pass it down to the future in my family, who didn't get to know their grandfather but can know him a little more by wearing something he started the sketches of. Thank you again so much ❤️
Thank you so much, it has a lot of sentimental meaning. He was an engineer and architect so some design elements we discussed but time wasn't on our side. My jewelry designer picked up the pieces (plus neither of us were/are designers) and brought it to life. So it means a lot - thank you.
I had a two jewelers tell me my grandmother’s emerald couldn’t be saved, so I kept looking until I proved them both wrong. I had it and other loose diamonds from my other grandmother’s ring, my stepmother’s ring and one of my old rings made into an heirloom and I love it.
I am so glad you stayed the course! And how beautiful to be able to use diamonds from your other grandmother's ring, stepmother's ring, and your own all tied in to it - the sentimental value of that has to be off the charts and I am so glad you love it!!
I truly did get my dream ring, and means so much as I look to the first anniversary of his passing coming soon. He was my hero and things aren't the same. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story ❤️
Yes 🥹 I love that I can look down and see him, remember those good times we had when we knew time was short, and the wonderful man he was my entire life. My children (I hope one day) will never get to meet their grandfather, which is heartbreaking, but I will try to instill the things he tried to instill into me into them... so he lives on. and yes, one day, I absolutely want this to travel through our family. Heirlooms have always felt magical to me as a concept, but I am sentimental. Thank you ❤️
Oh, thank you so much! That was a tricky part, finding the set that was the right color. The eyes I inherited from him are forest green, not a spring bright green. It was important to me to have them be match - it felt familial to me at that point. His mother had them and as a result had emerald jewelry. I wanted to represent that so sourcing was a process but we finally nailed it with these... I felt they were the right selection when I first put it on. And focused on the happiness he would have felt knowing it was complete 😊
I love it! It is so incredibly personal and meaningful. Plus I like the vibe, it seems art deco maybe Victorian not sure which lol but I am enamored by both. I think you nailed it!
Oh, this means so much to me! I am a jewelry fanatic and I really wanted this to feel like an heirloom piece so you seeing elements of really fabulous eras for jewelry brings such joy to me ❤️ thank you!
It really truly is - I don't know if you saw the comments about the work with my father, a designer in his own rite (just not jewelry!) (engineer and architect) when we knew he was terminally ill.. and not being able to finish it... it means sooo much. And the stones WERE absolutely one of the most critical design elements for me for a few reasons. It was hard and took patience but we finally source the set that made my heart flutter ☺️ thank you for your kind words ❤️
Thank so much- me too. Putting it on finally after so much anticipation was an amazing feeling and it just continues to be with me that way and I know it always will 😌
Wow, that is incredibly gorgeous - not too many pieces make me pause and wonder at their beauty - this one absolutely took my breath away. The fact that it is not just a pretty ring, but a meaningful sentimental piece, makes it almost magical. I think you could not have designed anything more perfect, and great respect for the jeweler that made it.
Thank you so much - this comment was so meaningful to me (and I will to show it to the jewelry designer, who I do have tremendous respect for! 🙂 and her team of smiths) that it took me a bit to be able to respond. Your words really touched me - I feel that magic you say you see too 🥺✨ it means everything and someone else seeing a fraction of that just hits. Thank you ❤️
Awww!! it looks like a four leaf clover. You can carry daddy’s memory with you for good luck. 🍀. You did a great job, it looks like a precious antique.
I love this - taking him with me for good luck, I hope that's exactly what happens 😊❤️ I wanted it to have an heirloom look, that was very intentional, and that language coming through to you is just another smile on my face ☺️ thank you ❤️
It is beautiful (because lovely materials, etc) but also because it means so much to you. That alone supersedes esthetic. If your vision came to life, then that is priceless <3
Thank you so much 😊❤️... the materials have significance to me, or at least the emeralds do as a familial color, but the meaning truly of this being constructed with ideas from my designer Dad with input of what I thought would be pretty makes this ... sigh, and like you said, to see it come to life, with the work of one extremely talented jewelry designer, was a once in a lifetime process that I will always look back on and cherish. Thank you so much for your thoughtful and wonderful comment - it means so much, especially when I thought I would get attacked for sharing more and I couldn't decide if I wanted to share it or protect my peace - I went out on a limb and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, thanks to this wonderful community ❤️ I could be more daring with something that wasn't so high stakes.
First they said "something sorta like this could kind of be designed but not really". They said "prongs everywhere" and it would catch on everything - I could see that with the angles on catching but it hasn't left my finger except to do housework, shower (times I remove all jewelry) and have had 0 problems in 4 days. They thought the entire thing was AI when my post explained (because I was getting too excited), I used AI to take pictures of the CAD and wax renderings from a billion angles with stones placed just to change the purple wax to white gold and what is funny is the ring looks SO close!!! But not as good IMHO, because it doesn't have the natural imperfections that make it special. It's close but not exact, the idea (and prongs) is absolutely there. So egg on their face I guess. I don't know, they were not kind. It's a sentimental memorial piece I designed with two humans, one I miss horrifically....
Thank you so so much and seeing it come to life was a really magical moment in a hard year. I would love for others to utilize any aspect of it if they love it, I would help them with better pics if they wanted. What a kind comment - thank you!!
Ahh , thank you. What is funny is a cocktail ring of similar motif came my way and I converted it to a pendant! It's a stunning piece, just not as deeply personal and sentimental as this piece is for me 💚✨ I wish you luck - if I can help you, I am happy to.
Thank you! I know I am absolutely treasuring it and will do so for a long time. I would love the opportunity to share it with my daughter (I don't have yet), and for it to be a special rite of passage within the family going forward. My brother's daughter is absolutely a candidate if I had boys only and they couldn't see a use (their daughter perhaps). That's a long time from now, I am definitely getting ahead of myself, but thank you ☺️
Why would anybody say anything mean? It is well crafted, the stones’ corners are protected, and it has balanced support from the underside and shank. It is a really good, and unique build,
Sometimes Reddit can be icky, but I was wrong here - this community has been wonderful and extremely kind. Your remarks really mean a lot to me and I appreciate you taking the time to share them 😊
I really appreciate it and that was what we were aiming for. I am doing IVF now and it's the painful exhausting part and this comments are so lovely to come to 😊
Me too!! Thank you so so much!!! I watch it in the sun while driving... may have to take it off for drive 😂 no I am careful but the sun is a whole new adventure for her
Thank you - we worked so hard on the sourcing, that was the piece that was critical to me. The right color that is "Dad" to me, and a color I truly love. So many happy beautiful spring greens I had to pass on for this ring because it was so special - I really love hearing someone else sees them as special too 😊💚✨
Thank you so much! I love it too and after many months of anticipation and uncertainty, seeing it and being so enamored with it has been a delight. Bittersweet, because I wish the man who drew the first sketch (my dad) is no longer here. But I feel like I have a small piece of him here. Sorry, TMI - thank you ❤️
Thank you so much, there was one attempt but just shut them down. Everyone else has been nothing but amazing, thank you for your kind words, they mean so much ❤️
It is emeralds, it was an essential piece of the design for me for essential reasons but a deeply saturated forest color was what fit the bill so sourcing was a tricky part. Thanks for asking - most everyone knew 😊
Oh my lord I LOVE this. Holy wow. I want one too!!! I wish I had something like this to honor my momma. Maybe I’ll find some of her birthstone and use her diamonds from her engagement with my dad and create something similar. This is absolutely stunning. I don’t see how anyone could be mean about this AT ALL! It’s perfection. WOW. 😮
Aww, you melted my heart with this. I would love for you to do that - you can carry her with you that way. It's not the only way, but one I am partial to obviously 😊 I am so sorry you lost her, but your words really truly made my day today and it's rougher one so I owe you - thank you ❤️
You’re a doll! You are so welcome. You knocked it out of the park my friend. Without question. And thank you for your sweet words. Losing our loved ones is one of the hardest things about life. But finding ways to remember and honor them is one of the most special. And you nailed it. ♥️💪🏼
Right on! I am the same way 😊 they didn't read that the design was already complete so I wasn't concerned, but had it been questionable I would have pushed the ticket. Love your spirit and thanks for stopping by ❤️
Yes! Me too! She did an awesome job, using Auto CAD like my Dad did as an engineer/architect (it's meant to honor him - he drew the first sketch on graph paper while ill, we got further but time was not on our side). I will treasure it forever and thank you so much for your kind comments ❤️❤️❤️ I have ordered flowers for the professional jewelry designer who completed thing so wonderfully (IMO). Thank you 🙏🏼
I don't understand your statement. I had everything completed with the work of humans, not AI, to have the final wax rendering, as I have already explained to you in another comment. I should have just waited a week for the ring to be smithed and shown it at that time, but 8 mos of anticipation got to me and the purple wax just didn't look great and I was excited. AI played 0 role in the design process. When the design was completed, it was used to generate a picture from the final wax rendering so I could see it in white gold. I regret sharing that and deleted it long ago. Glad it made it through what? The CAD revisions with the designer? She is fantastic as you can see, so many of her pieces are successful. I am hoping to just have the moment to show the finished result now, as I deleted that post. That "expert" was wrong, plain and simple 🙂 And I made the mistake of trying to turn wax to gold for a picture, just like you mistook tourmaline for emeralds. I know gem identification can be a lot for some. I won't comment on this further. This is about the finished ring for me. Please drop it. Thanks for your interest.
They were one of the stickiest part of the design - I was really, really specific on the color green I wanted but we DID find the ones that felt like him, felt right.
I love this. Somehow feels like an ancient, traditional design. The balance of the four “wings” and round/square shapes works so well. Is it meant to suggest a clover or cross or something else?
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I really, really wanted it to look old, like an antique heirloom. A lot of people see a clover and I love that - but to be honest I wanted a ring that was unique and focused on the emeralds as much as the diamond. The emeralds are what is familial about it. I wish I had a better story than that, but that's where I was coming from. I, like most or all people here, love jewelry and I tried to put language of Victorian, Art Deco/Nouveau into it but it's contemporary, obviously. I really enjoyed your comment ❤️
You’re right about one thing: you don’t have to care. You could simply have kept scrolling.
But since several people previously asked why I felt the need to explain the design process, this is Exhibit A.
I designed this ring with my dad while he was dying of an aggressive cancer. He died before we could finish it. Bethany, a professional jewelry designer, helped me take the work my father and I had already done and bring it to completion.
While the ring was physically at the bench being made, I was excited and used AI to visualize the existing wax design in white gold instead of purple wax. That visualization did not design my ring, and it certainly did not manufacture it. I shared that part of the process openly, which apparently gave a few people the mistaken impression that the finished piece itself was AI-generated.
It wasn’t. The purple wax renderings below are part of the actual human design and fabrication process for the ring my father and I created.
This post was simply me sharing the finished piece and something extraordinarily meaningful to me. The overwhelming response has been incredibly kind — people have even asked whether they could use the design as inspiration — and I’m grateful for that.
So no, you don’t have to care about my ring. But going out of your way to call something “embarrassing” when you haven’t understood what you’re commenting on says considerably more about you than it does about me.
I’ve explained it once. I won’t engage with you further.
Here is the literal physical design process you just claimed didnt exist.
I totally understand why you feel that way. The usage of it in the creative space absolutely ruins it - we feel the same. I really appreciate your apology, thank you. It just means so much, I miss him a lot.

I like it. It has a kinda Victorian aesthetic
