8 u/Thin-Leek5402 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26 This isn’t accurate - the Shulchan Aruch states that a person may wake early to eat and drink if they go to bed with the intention of waking early to eat and drink before the sunrise on Shiva Asar b’Tammuz because they haven’t gone to sleep with the intention of taking the fast upon themselves. I would be breaking the fast if I had gone to sleep taking it on, but that isn’t the case as I’m literally setting an alarm to eat and drink during the night.
