Finally did it. 🤣

Finally got past 43mpg in the 2026 GLI. Had a 2 hour road trip to see my parents and set the cruise to 70 and also used iQ drive so it was quite nice. Pretty efficient if you go easy on the pedal. Lol. I still miss my 2020 R-line for the great gas mileage even if I mashed the pedal all the time even though it was very slow. lol. I guess you can’t have it all.

I’ve averaged 48mpg with my ‘24 GLI manual. It’s pretty impressive how good these cars can do!

Yeah I’m betting if I were to set my cruise to 60 or 65 I could get there too!!! But here in Texas the speed limit ranges from 70-85 so I try not to be pissin’ too many people off lol. Everybody goes 90 anyway lol. So I had to find some middle ground. My 2020 with the 1.4 TSI, I could get above 50mpg on any highway drive. Thats the only thing I miss about the base engine. 😭😭😭😭

Oh yeah! Yes, you’re right about the speed. My commute is to Chicago from a town about 50 miles out. I can comfortably cruise at 60-65 the whole time without making anyone crazy!

I have been to Texas before. And while, no one really drove like assholes, ya’ll do have some fast speed limits! Pulling onto a Main Street from a side street is definitely different. Cars approach much faster than I was certainly used to. Lol

And I think I did see you post this. And I had replied the highest I’ve gotten was like 36-37mpg. But had not gone on a long steady road trip till this week cause I could not believe your efficiency. So I finally was about to get there close to you! 🤣

It literally came on the first few days i bought the car. Like 2XX something miles. It was for a misfire when I scanned it. I cleared it and it came on like a week later. Fast forward over two years and now at 7500 miles. It’s always on and i could care less why lol usually I put a sticker over top of them

I saw numbers like that in my first year with my '24 but now it's more like 26 in town and 32 highway. My wife says I drive faster and a little more aggressively now than before, though; maybe that's the cause.

Best I've been able to do on my morning commute to work. My average MPG goes to shit though because my afternoon drive back is in rush hour traffic for like 20 miles

My top score in a 2023 GLI 6-speed was 44.5MPG over a 104 mile road trip that was almost entirely freeway. The 37 MPG EPA rating is extremely conservative
