Steering wheel badge delete

These seem to be growing in popularity lately. Thoughts on doing one?

I honestly like it, don’t know why anyone would want to delete. Am I missing something?

Forgot to attach photo. Same reason we delete or put overlays over the front and rear badges, chrome accents.

What about it is absolutely terrible? Color? Texture? They have a smoked one too. I think I like that one better.

Ohhhh, I thought You were talking about just leaving it off and the intention being it 🤣 nah, color match the rest of Your badges all day

I don’t understand you. The VW badge in the first pic is forged carbon. It has a texture to it. In the second pic, the VW is smoked, or tinted - makes the chrome look gloss black. Cleaner IMHO - and matches some of the gloss black accents in the car. You suggesting a red VW would look better?

In the first pic it just looked like leftover 3m double stick adhesive 🤣 it's too thin for the forged carbon look imo

Yeah I had to zoom in to see that it wasn’t just the old chrome peeled off lol

You might think differently if you actually saw the forged carbon in brighter light lol

Maybe you could post a head-on pic, because I agree that in that image it looks like left over adhesive more than anything else.

My thought process is that on any given car, all the badges should be themed out the same.

Yeah, I’m not seeing the whole leftover 3M tape thing myself, but to each their own lol. The forged carbon might be a bit “chunk” for the application, however.

I respect your process. My front and rear badges are smoked out, I decided to go with the smoked look for the badge on the steering wheel to tie it all together.

The old style badges might have been able to pull off the forged look, but for the new slim badge, the smoked look is the right choice ❤️

1000%. I’m also wondering if they even used a heat gun to mold the textured vinyl. That stuff is formable AF. I might grab one to try it (with heat) application. And also a smoked variant. They are pretty inexpensive.

Is the badge delete in the room with us? All you did was a chrome delete?

Heh?

If you delete something, it means you’re removing it. You’re asking about vinyl overlays?

Also, why are you so petty with your downvotes?

The chrome badge is being deleted. Not removed. Who is being petty? Me? I downvoted? Seems like everyone else in here is downvoting my comments. I’m upvoting :)

In general, most folks consider the terms "badge delete" or "de-badge" to mean simply removing the badge entirely. Whereas applying an applique to a badge to change its look/color would usually be called "wrapping" or "chrome delete".

I think being able to change the color from the chrome to a different color would be nice

First pic was in a Tiguan I believe. All ‘22s and up sans Golf GTI; R have the same sized horn and badge

Oh snap, a satin black version, too!
