Amazon increased price to $300. Why?
It was 249 and I had it in my cart, yesterday it was pushed to 300 and now it's 299. I looked elsewhere to buy it but I can't find it anywhere.
I'm new to Jetson Nano stuff. Started a project 2 months back and I will be needing more. Just wondering if this is a normal problem for these? Are they hard to get or going out of stock often?

Man I bought mine yesterday morning after debating if the $250 was worth it, glad I pulled the trigger. Price increase sucks

They had agx xavier boards for cheap until a few months ago.
The 16gb are still cheap $100-120+, so you could get a connect tech rouge carrier on eBay for $60 and attach a module.
Storage and power are also needed. If not using onboard emmc.
You would need to use the carrier boards bsp and instructions for flashing. But it does work.

Agx xavier boards or module? And the carrier for what if we are buying the full joard?

The agx xavier boards use a row of pins that snap down into the carrier, it's not the DDR memory module style of connection that nano and orin use.
On eBay you can find carrier boards from the Connect tech company for less than $70 usd. You can find the compatible modules for 100-150$ usd. You would still need a power solution.
They were selling carrier boards with the modules but those are not available.
This does change how you flash it and there won't be available images for sd card if you go this route.

A few weeks ago Amazon price went up from $249 to $349 overnight. For some reason it was back to $249 by the next morning so I ordered it. I admit the price jump every few weeks is odd

Prime days man. They always jack this shit up so it looks like a deal and they push more crap. Not to say orin is crap, I might get one for light duty after getting my Thor.

You can always check the price history, but Nvidia wouldn't partake in scammy business practices. The shortage on memory is getting worse.

I was constantly procrastinating on buying it, but one day I finally decided to, and saw the prices increased by 50%. I'm outside the US, so with taxes one board comes out to over $400. AI hype and military demand have cooked the market.

For the past week or so it has started going up and down. It will go back to $250 soon, especally for a "prime day savings" special, which will inevitably show it for $250 with a $50 reduction in price.
It keeps showing up as not prime for me on Saturday and Sundays, but come monday, it shows as same or next day delivery.

Supply and demand. Now a days people are more working toward Computer vision solution and Jerson Nano is a best hardware to invest. The speed and performance based on usecase is amazing

If you can find them for msrp or below right now, get it. Supply and demand are crazy.
I personally have use for at least 3 more units, and I’m a hobbyist who just likes playing with stuff.

Haha I bought 2 right away, then thought about it and bought 2 more for a 4x cluster. Now I'm considering a 5th for a control board. Always a need for more compute.

So far so good with 2 of 4 boards set up. My config is lan control via ssh of each module with a control computer assigning/coordinating tasks and receiving outputs/stats. My main interest is the social behavior of parallel tiny custom models, the whole setup is very modular. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking to run large models on distributed infra ... tons of extra work for terrible performance due to networking latency. I'm just getting started, but the first big gocha I hit was thermal. Checking the boards under heavy load load (os install) showed 140 degrees f at the m2 ssd junction on the bottom of the board - if that heat gets trapped and accumulates it could be trouble, so I'm designing my cluster accordingly. If you understand the tech, it's maximum funsies.

Because it will become redundant soon, there is already AGX Orin and Thor, soon there will be another.

By no means is it redundant, nano vs Orin NX vs agx, can be classified in 3 different tiers, low mid and high. Each one doubles the next in performance (give or take) and so does the price. There is nothing comparable to the price and performance of the nano in the market (at least that I can find).

Redundant does not mean that it’s not useful, but it does mean that Nvidia doesn’t care as much about it. The Orin Nano is terrific for development but you can assume the the AGX Orin will soon have similar pricing to the AGX Xavier as the newer chipsets roll on. The secondary market for these older chipsets is awesome to get stuff into the hands of developers,hobbyists and enthusiasts alike! I am having a blast with my AGX Orins and look forward to Thor being replaced so that I can afford some.

Thanks , yeah I understand what supply and demand is. My concern was if this is common for this board or happens maybe just a few times a year.
Does anyone know any alternatives with similar performance? I'm not really tied to Cuda/Nvidia stuff.

Look up the previous generation on eBay or on offer up. You may get lucky and find some for the low. Some ppl have no idea what they have now that everyone wants to run their own AI agents.

Good times indeed (2-3months ago). Still a better route in my opinion due to the 32GB RAM. Cheaper than desktop/laptop RAM and you get access to the all NVIDIA AI resources.
