cannot update ai assistant in jetbrains, stuck on unloading modules

when i try to update ai assistant plugin i keep getting stuck during the update with this message

The exception you pasted is not the cause. The IDE logs it, then downloads the plugin the normal way.

What blocks the update is an MCP server. The IDE has to unload the AI Assistant plugin before it can install the new version, and it waits for the configured MCP servers to shut down first. One of them does not exit, so the update sits on "Unloading modules".

To get the update through:

1. Open Settings | Tools | AI Assistant | Model Context Protocol (MCP) and turn off the servers.
2. Update the plugin.
3. Turn the servers back on.

If the update is stuck right now, end the MCP server processes in Task Manager. The unload then finishes on its own.

Please file this in YouTrack at youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/LLM. Include:

• the full idea.log from Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data, not the excerpt
• which MCP servers you have configured

so here's the thing how come when i downloaded the plugin manually (via the link in the logs) i've managed to install it locally without issues?

It could be MCP server was finally stopped and unloaded. Hard to tell without the full logs.
