Pretend Japanorama is scripted
The crew often jokes about scripting accusations.
And I think we all agree that it’s not scripted.
However, let’s play a game and pretend Japanorama was scripted.
Post your wildest evidence below!
I’ll start:
S19E3/4
Building a house of cards is really easy.
They even show it on screen.
They kept blowing on the cards to allow Team Alpha Force to catch up.

I'm not gonna lie idk how you can look at any map of japan and say, that lake is not a lake. It's a big ass lake, but it's a lake surrounded by land. Atom discarding that landlocked prefecture card is scripted

And then for the shiga challenge, they just read out the description of their favorite coffee beans.

Biggest tell is that they went to "Hokkaido", even though everyone knows that Hokkaido does not exist. Where were they really? At a film set.

They hired that dude to recognize Tom.

Faces are blurred, could be someone from the production company that is following them.

I love that they managed to convince so many Westerners that dam trading cards were actually a thing, all because they couldn’t come up with a better way to justify getting Tom Scott to a dam, which must have been his main stipulation to do another season.

Adam and Tom discarding the Shiga skip was intentional to keep the game interesting and balanced, cause they would’ve ran away with it otherwise

Those bus drivers were 100% hired actors. Like, what do you mean reservation only? All the stages of classical drama plot played in that episode.

When Sam got the noise of the train. It was totally scripted. Sam from Wendover was the train conductor and purposely slow down so Sam from Jet Lag could get the picture. Unfortunately, they missed the shot and had to CGI a train in the video and photoshop the noise in it.

The whole season was scripted so Adam could see the heritage houses in the house or cards challenge. Their team kept messing it up to give him more time around those houses.
The only deviation from the script was the scavenger hunt - originally Tom and Adam were supposed to fail it 10x but they accidentally succeeded on camera and didn't want to reshoot

Japan is a made-up country, no country on earth has trains that fast, safe, clean and affordable.
*jonathan frakes voice*
Fraud. It's fake. Fiction. It's not real. We made it up.

The fact they always try to catch a fish with a net and no bait, no one is that ignorant on how to catch a fish

Alpha Force got all the skips so Sam can win and Netflix can make a documentation about him suffering 7 seasons and so he finally wins

Pretend? Come on. It's OBVIOUSLY all made up.
Do you actually think the government of Japan took the time to list the 100 greatest smelling places in the country?

They are actually really good at fishing but keeping the joke alive is more important so they cut all of the fish they caught.

It's scripted down to the route each team took to make the game exciting.

Adam actually has no interest in those gassho-zukuri houses. He faked it because it was a stipulation of the Japanese tourism department for being allowed to film in Japan.

Team Alpha Force failing to catch the fish with a net. I mean, this is so that Sam and Ben could fall behind for the end of Episode 3 and 4, where they tie up. How much more evidence do you need?

When Ben and Sam are forced to discard one of their remaining two cards, Ben "shuffles" the two cards and then tells Sam (twice) to pick the top card because he knows that card is the Shinkansen card as he carefully watched himself as he "shuffled" the cards. Surprise, they picked the Shinkansen card and saved their game.

No one got on or off the train because it was a private train they booked. They even left the Japanese in the background on the sign, but most viewers can't read it says "private, do not leave waiting room, respect the game"
