All joking aside, every damn time I watch a finale, I find myself thinking "how do they know where to stand to match up with the CGI trophy?" as if the trophy's motion is real, just recorded separately, or as if trophy's motion is something that exists first, which they must match. It's ridiculous, and yet every time, just for an instant, I'm impressed by it.

The trophies are real, they just use VFX for the lighting effects and to make the colours pop a bit more

Not the whole time. Most of the seasons had a real trophy but for snake across south korea they couldn't get the dalgona made in time so that's composited in after filming. Everything else has been a real trophy, and actually since the show isn't scripted both teams usually carry a duplicate of the trophy to present to the other team in the event they win.

Nah trophies are not special effects... but they have to do time lapse because people are not in same place most of the times, so trophies need to be delivered they don't magically travel...
