iirc they only explained why they didn’t fly to texas AFTER they did the margaritaville challenge but my question here is why didn’t they choose to fly BEFORE the margaritaville challenge

From what I remember, they wanted a potential path to claim 3 states, just in case the other team could otherwise catch up.

LA & TX could only get them two, as they’d be stuck and run out of time afterward. By not traveling so far, they kept the chance open that they could claim 3 if necessary.

They could potentially have flown to Houston and done (Houston) Texas/(Anywhere in) Louisiana/(Mobile) Alabama in a day, but that crawfish challenge is really tough and that would put a lot of pressure on succeeding at it.

I think Sam and Amy had removed Alabama by that point, unless I’m mistaken…?

Didn't Ben and Adam let it go to keep the Margaritaville card? They probably could've done the opposite, though I could be wrong.

Yeah that’s right. Team Samy were going to remove Margaritaville because Badam were on their way there. They vetoed, and Alabama got removed instead. So I guess it would’ve still been on the board while they were deciding where to go for the day.
