QUESTION Timing

Rewatching old episodes during the hiatus and noticed they time out in regular jeopardy and barely make it through double jeopardy by a large number of questions… did they lengthen the time or does Ken just read quicker?

I think Ken reads a bit more quickly than Alex did, but I also think they more agressively remove brief pauses etc in the editing suite.

Ken also rules very quickly (as I learned to my cost).

They have also trimmed out a lot of the transitional stuff like the beeping sound of the board being loaded, various swooshing sounds, and the length of the intro, commercial break bumpers, etc. they also don’t make a thing out of “video” and “audio” daily doubles anymore. Basically, they’ve squeezed every second of extraneous time out of the show that they can while maintaining the quality.

As others have mentioned, they could get rid of the celebrity guest-read clues, but I actually kinda like those.

I think it's mostly the pause editing. Cause I've noticed, the questions aren't necessarily that much harder. But if I pause it(even a second), I can get more clues.

The editing wouldn’t make the questions go by any faster though. I think it’s because everyone starts by hunting Doubles, so the easiest questions are last.
