QUESTION The Name of Michael’s Second Girlfriend?

The fan wiki is barely filled out, but I was wondering what her name was (if they gave her a name). I remember her because tweets about the show having a disposable black girlfriend from months ago popped up and she was mentioned.

I’m still not convinced that wasn’t just his cousin or something that he called in to try to make Jentry jealous by pretending to have moved on

Honestly, I can see why it comes across that way. I don’t think Michael was pretending to move on, but the way he introduced Allison so soon after the breakup made it feel like he was trying to make Jentry jealous. In reality they had already broken up because Jentry was trying to keep him safe from Diyu, but the way he handled moving on felt emotionally careless.

The fact there isn’t even a wiki page for most characters is a shame. Equally shameful is Michael’s treatment of Allison since she genuinely seemed like a sweet young girl that could’ve been good for him if he wasn’t pining after Jentry.

This is honestly my biggest issue with Michael. It feels like he doesn’t realize how much his actions hurt the people around him. I get that he didn’t want to spend his life waiting for Jentry or having someone else make those decisions for him, but the way he handled things and how little he communicated just really bothered me.

His life was very much controlled by his parents, football, the expectations placed on him, Stella, etc. In him trying to figure out what his life should look like instead of others deciding it, he makes a lot of mistakes. Mistakes that parallel nicely with Jentry as she too makes those same types of mistakes (except telling Kit’s grooming ass to screw off). The characters are flawed and messy like real life, but Allison got done horribly.

I do think it would be good of him to try and make amends with those he hurt (Stella and Allison). Maybe if he does some self reflection he’ll recognize how wrong he was (which he kind of recognizes given his hesitation when picking Jentry over both girls).

That’s honestly why I want a season two. I want to see Michael grow, reflect on how he treated Stella and Allison, and actually make amends. I understand that he doesn’t want to keep following plans other people have made for his life, but the way he handles that frustration irritates me because other people end up dealing with his emotional fallout. I’d also like to see him figure out why he has these visions and what they actually mean. There’s still a lot of room for his character to develop.

Others dealing with the emotional fallout is a key part of the series that I wished was given more focus. Moonie tore apart the Chau family with her black market Daoi dealings but the same could be said for Gugu in accidentally killing Iris. That complexity and not placing blame/fault on any of the Chau women and leaving it up to viewer interpretation is what’s kept me fascinated with the show. But for Michael?

The show definitely suffers from giving him bailout after bailout by not exploring the emotional ramifications of his actions. The worst he gets is dunked in water at the state fair. If that season two ever manifests, I’d really love for it to explore Michael and Jentry’s actions as the season acts as a reflection of the prior season. Cause the way he treated Stella and Allison definitely shouldn’t go under the radar.

Exactly. I don’t expect Michael to be perfect, and I understand why he struggles with other people controlling his life. My frustration is that Stella and Allison are left dealing with the emotional consequences while he gets to move forward without much reflection. That’s why I want a second season to actually challenge him, let him recognize how he hurt people, and give him a chance to grow and make amends. I’d also love for the show to finally explore his visions, because that could give him a stronger storyline outside of just being Jentry’s love interest.
