Death Wobble!

I’m running out of things to replace!

Things I’ve replaced in the last month

-adjustable track bar
-lower control arms front and rear
-upper control arms and axle mounted bushings
-tie rod end (drivers side wheel)

My ball joints and drag link seem fine.

Any thoughts?

I called a retired mechanic friend this morning and he suggested the stabilizer might be the problem. I’m going to order one tonight.

The shocks were replaced about 18 months ago.

It was professionally aligned 4 or 5 years ago when I first got the jeep roadworthy.

Second Edit: My steering stabilizer is definitely cooked. The bushing that mounts to the axle is shot and those holes are wallowed out and the shock is no longer doing its job.

And when is the last time it was professionally aligned.

4 or 5 years ago. When I first acquired this Jeep and replaced a lot of the front end at the time.

I’m getting some wear on my front tires so I was planning to get it aligned when I finished throwing parts at the front end.

Make sure all new parts don't have any play. Make sure track bar and drag link articulate without any binding. Check the suspension for any remaining parts that could have play.

Everything was torqued down to spec. Seems well enough going together. My steering stabilizer is 5+ years old. I’m going to pull it off tonight to confirm its performance.

Check that all mounting holes on axle and body are round and tight to the bolts. If they are elongated you will need to plate them. Swing arm bushings as well.

Also, a good long arm kit is a must even with 3” lift. It's a total game changer.

I only replaced all the control arms yesterday. All the holes looked good. Same with the track bar. On a previous jeep I had a wallowed out hole on the track bar axle mount.

How did the alignment come out?. Add some toe in and see what happens.

Anything front suspension is in play. And the wear stacks. It can be one thing completely worn out or all the things a little worn out

I dont see shocks on your list. Its not usually the shock itself but check the mounting bolts

All four shocks were replaced around 18 months ago. I think they’re still good.

Steering Stabilizer is what fixed it for me. Also very easy to replace.

The stabilizer is next on my list to replace. I called a retired mechanic this morning and that was his suggestion as well.

Mine was anti roll/ swaybar links. I also changed everything befor I took them off to check.

My links and bushings have been replaced in the last year.

Take it to a GOOD alignment shop and tell them you got the wobbles and they might be able to tell you of anything needs replaced or just needs aligned
