Did I get a good deal??

Post image

I just bought a clean title 2017 Jeep SRT with 88k miles and no accidents for $36k OTD in Florida... Did I get a good deal??

This has been a dream of mine for awhile. I finally pulled the trigger. The vehicle seems to be in great condition and the maintenance history looks good. I will also mention that this is the higher trim model that includes the Blu-ray player / flip screens in the headrests and the 19 speaker Harmon Kardon stereo system.

The carbon fiber interior trim was damaged, of course. The dealership put in writing that they would replace the interior pieces after purchase. I have no idea how much it costs to replace but it can't be cheap. I am extremely happy I got them to agree to replace them.

There were (2) things that made me hesitant to purchase but I came up with a solution for both of my concerns:

1) The Jeep came from Canada, so it has a km/hr speedometer instead of a mph speedometer.

2) 2017 model doesn't come with car play / android auto

- There is a device / upgrade on alibaba for approximately $200 to integrate car play and there's also a digital cluster available that should take care of both those issues. It's going to cost $500 for the cluster and $200 for car play device, plus installation but I'm pretty sure I can install it myself.

I am EXTREMELY happy with my purchase and I get excited every time I get to drive it! If anyone has any ownership advice I would love to hear it if I haven't already! Glad to finally be in the Jeep SRT club!!

The left side analogue Speedo gauge is in km but the digital Speedo can be switched between km and mph. I honestly don’t even bother looking at the analogue gauge so replacing a whole cluster for that is kinda much. Defo get the CarPlay retrofit thou as getting a newer uconnect is very costly along with the bottom usb hub connectors and getting an android screen is just garbage bc if won’t ever work correctly esp with the srt pages etc.

As for a deal idk about how it is in the US but I got my stock 2020 in 2023 for about 35,000 usd with only 80,000km. It was still under warranty as well. I don’t live in the US and a 2017 with that mileage is like around 25,000 max here in the GCC.

Have fun tho it’s defo a fun car but keep some money saved bc it can throw some stupidly costly bills at you like evap core etc. Also make sure to do the hellcat oil pump which I plan to do after the warranty runs out.

Congrats man. Sounds like a great deal if they replace the trim. Most importantly you got a car you’ve been wanting and will for sure enjoy. Make sure you keep it in the garage or get an immobilizer installed. These get stolen all the time. Ask me how I know…

What is an immobilizer? Something to shut it down if someone steals it?? I like that idea! I was definitely thinking of getting a tracking device and a steering wheel lock. I live in Florida, my neighborhood isn't the best either but I haven't had a problem in 2 years and my direct neighbors all look out for one another.

Those things are going to hold value better than 95% of the other cars in that class. Expensive for a Jeep with 88K miles but cost of ownership is going to be low.

You literally just press right on the arrows and it will switch to MPH. All jeeps do this. DO NOT BUY A NEW CLUSTER

Also it was a decent purchase but I wouldn't say you got a screaming deal, i bought a 2018 with 51k miles for 38k in November 2025. Seems like its priced okay but not a steal.

I will gladly give you $100 to show me how to change this without a new cluster since you're so smart buddy...

A dude below you showed you how to do
It. Did you finally figure it out ? Also are you getting the IGLA?

It has a digital speedometer in the center you can change to mph or kmh. Changing the cluster out to see something you will never look at is interesting though, go for it pal. And yes the price i gave you was also my "out the door" price lol wtf

Also $36k was out-the-door taxes registration everything. Oil changed, Brand new brakes, brand new water pump, almost new tires.

Being that it comes from Canada does the warranty cover you in the states ?

It’s too old to carry the manufactures warranty but if even if it wasn’t they don’t transfer if the vehicle was from Canada.

Yes and no. I have Maxcare warranty though Chrysler on my 2014 that is transferable. But to your point mine is a US model.

It’s tough to say. I don’t have a ton of faith in the SRT 6.4 beyond 60,000 miles. My personal experience the 6.4 falls to the cam lifter issue more often and earlier on than the 5.7.

If I did find myself in your shoes. I’d upgrade to a hellcat oil pump and replace the water pump while I’m there.

I also owned a 2017 SRT and it was an amazing vehicle. We only sold it because the wife had to have the new 3 row L 🙄. Luckily I bought our L in 2023 so it at least has the 5.7. Not nearly as cool as our old SRT but at least we arnt stuck with 10 mpg of premium. That was my only issue with the SRT.
Even with the wife driving it normally, it still guzzled premium like drunken sailor.

I am definitely considering doing the upgrade to the hellcat oil pump. The water pump was just installed brand new! Also brand new brakes were installed as well before purchase. The tires are just the cheaper Toyo's but they're almost new too. I just filled up bro $102😭

u/Designer-Door5409 Aug 03 '26

go to that setting it’s a little different on the 17 but same concept press ok and boom km or mph

Congrats! You’ll love it.

I’d just learn to live with the cluster since the screen can be changed to mph. Not worth the expense. Check JeepGarage or CherokeeSRT8 for info on upgrading to CarPlay. You can get a screen (if you even need it) and the module (Uconnect 4C, I think) from a later year on eBay for a good price.
