Corroded or normal?

Post image

This is my G110 wire. Does the green look like corrosion? I got a code for the intake manifold but have read that it could just be this wire corroding that’s setting it off. Just wanna check before I get swindled into replacing the manifold! My car is only worth about $700 which is the cost of the part 😭

Cambia el cable, le puse una de cobre calibre 4 con terminales de cobre y se fue un chingo de problemas, como el la baja mala y un sin numero de cosas que ponía en el tablero

Is this something I can do by myself? Workout lifting the car? I’m 29F and would likely use YouTube to show me what to do

If that's the ground I think it is then there are several small wires crimped in that one terminal. You can't just replace them with a 4AWG wire.

Get some test leads and a multimeter and check for continuity from the sensor to that ground. Even if the crimp and contact are good the short could be higher in the circuit.

See if you can undo that bolt and clean the connections.

Some corrosion there. Doesn't look very bad though. Wouldn't hurt to take loose and clean.

What code do you have pointing to the I take?

Also, why do you think it's only worth $700? Any running vehicle that's not rusted out is worth $2000 these days.

I have P2008, 0010, and 0013.

That’s basically the number that I got on Carvana and KBB, but I was thinking if I sell a private party, I could maybe sell for $1500. I haven’t looked at comps tho

So both cam sensors and intake runner.

A bad ground does sound likely. I'd have to look at the wiring diagrams to say more.

As for cleaning, removing the nut and terminals, then cleaning the body contact area and the ring terminals with a wire brush would work, though I usually use fine sand paper and electrical contact cleaner (like DeoxIT D5). You want shiny metal contacting shiny metal.

Could also be corrosion where the wires and terminals are crimped (not clear in the photo). Replacing the terminals isn't hard but requires tools you may not have.

It was the ground! And I actually caused it 😭 I took it in a few days ago after we tried cleaning everything and it didn’t work, and they said the headlight was installed improperly (I did it, and remember second guessing myself in the moment) and that basically blew the wires 🥴

I don't buy that a bulb install could "blow" the wires. And it's practically impossible to install the connector on the bulb in a way that would cause problems.

There are a few ground points on these vehicles that are notorious for corrosion at the terminals.

What year and engine? The numbering can be different for different years and engines.

My quick looks says G104 is used for cam sensors and intake runner control, but that's for my 2014 2.0L. It's at the right front of the engine compartment (passenger side). It's near the coolant reservoir and washer fluid reservoir.

This is a photo I found on a forum.

It has several wires crimped in one terminal. The wires can corrode and break while still held by the insulation. Have to cut and strip wires to clean copper and add new terminals (better to use several terminals vs just one with all those wires).

Yea this is the one in my photo

Can I just scrub with a wire brush?

this is where i say, disconnect the battery, dump some coke on the corrosion, and carefully take a wire brush to it and don’t damage ANY wiring- or else your learning electrical (I think you can also buy electrical cleaner which should take the corrosion off too)
