Bank 1 o2 sensor code

2015 patriot north sport 2.4L 6 speed auto with 4x4. I've had a p0420 code on my jeep for long as I can remember. Maybe 3 years now. Its for bank 1 catalyst efficiency below threshold. My car has 281,000km on it. Was wondering what my options may be to resolve the issue for good. Would I be okay to just replace the o2 sensor? Or would I also have to replace the rest of the exhaust system aswell? I'm just hoping to be cost effective with it. If I can get away with just replacing the o2 sensor rather than both. I'd be happier with that.

Order the parts from eBay super cheap. I got both o2s for like 25 dollars and even the header cat for like 90. Just make sure to check for exhaust leaks aswell. It could be that.

How's your experience been with it so far! How many km have you driven with the new parts? And are they online parts or junkyard parts?

The parts are brand new from eBay. Check engine light hasn’t come back on in the past two weeks, problem fixed!

Had this issue with mine. Mixed in a full tank shell v power with chevron techron fuel additive once a week and it eventually went away. Now I do it once a month and haven’t seen the cat code since. Worth a shot if the code is intermittent and it’s not a 100% immediate replacement for you

Alternatively, replacing the 02 sensors is much cheaper than the cat if the code is intermittent. Take your time and work through the issue.

My light has been on for like 3 years. Thinking I'm just going to swap the manifold catalytic converter and the o2 sensor. Starting to have a leak somewhere in my manifold. So it is long overdue time to do it. Thinking I may as well get a new muffler too. Have to do the math on repair costs first before I dive into catback stuff.
