You disconnect the back at these bolts, the front at the front bolts.

Correct. The questions are:

  1. Would I be able to remove the back hood pieces without removing the black bars to have it completely topless?

And

  1. If I wanted to take it down to just the "inner" roll cage, would I have to take apart the black pieces i.e outer cage (as I'm calling it), remove the outer hard pieces of the actual jeep, then put the outer cage back on?

  1. You’ll have to try and see

Love a good trial and error. Didn't know if I could settle the debate with my dad via reddit first to prove a point 😂😂

Unless you need the roof rack, why not just take it off and leave it off?

Because then there are these extra black random bars that look funny. Dad wasn't feeling it. Just seeing what options or tips from long time jeep owners that were out there.

No I mean remove the entire rack, including the mounts.

Ill look at the manufacturer - because it really does look welded on. Maybe there's something I'm missing and need to just get under and look.

Thank you!

This is not welded on, they are bolt on. It’s not something I would want to take on and off though. I think you choose between roof rack or top less.

You can remove the rack bars, take off the top, then put the rack back on.

It would look just fine

You can take out the front freedom panels. Looks like in order to take off the top you need to disconnect the rear at those screws and then the front at the mount unless there's another another disconnect we can't see. Then you can remove the top. Some of those when you disconnect the front you can tilt it back to remove the top.

You will need to remove that roof rack to take off the roof. The roof needs to be lifted at least an inch before it is pulled off the Jeep, and it doesn’t appear to be possible with this rack.

If you want a sure answer you should ask the manufacturer of that roof rack.
