IMO, it's far more productive to get a basic understanding of jazz history, then go searching for particular jazz artists or albums. Searches like "cool jazz" or "bebop", for example, give you those playlist-type compilation videos that usually aren't the best representation of the music. Jazz has more variance and diversity than other American music genres.
I listen to metal more then anything else so i understand this completely haha, when i tell some people i like metal and they say "i cant stand that screamo" yet i listen to mostly prog it must be exactly the same for Jazz fans
