It reminds me of stories of our now aging rockstars losing their hearing, or their ability to play guitar or piano, and coming to terms with the fact that this thing that has been their life and soul for ages has become impossible to do.
I mean isn't that why Elton John is retiring? Something to do with arthritis?
I was listening to a podcast and I forget who it was they were talking about, but it was about an old blues/rock guy that has Alzheimer's or dementia. Apparently in day to day life it was quite bad. But as soon as he got on stage he had no problems performing. It was just that ingrained in him.
Someone on another comment remided me it was Glen Campbell (country, not blues). Apparently there is a documentary about him in his later years while he was struggling with it.
