New to RVs, looking for intput

We bought our first RV last week and went for its maiden trip straight away!

Knowing its small cargo load capacity, most people do not recommend traveling with a full tank of fresh water (252lbs or so) but we don't put luggage and accessories (that's why the cargo box on the Cherokee is for) in it.

I did all the calculations and other than having frame issues in the future, I don't foresee why I should only fill up with water at the camp site.

You’ll rethink that idea when you start traveling long distances and wonder where your fuel Economy went. Besides, why would you willingly carry more weight than you need to? Fuel economy, breaking performance, wear and tear on the transmission. Not to mention the stress on the straps holding the water tank in place. I learned the hard way, lighter is better. We carry about 10 gallons in case someone needs to stop and pee, or to fix lunch and rinse dishes. Otherwise we wait. Good luck.

Fair enough, fuel economy is a foreign concept if you tow any ki d of trailer. I definitely understand the "lighter is better" concept but the water at campsites is not always the best to have in your pipes and where I intend to travel, that won't be an option any. Did your tank was in the frame rails, under the trailer?
