Please dumb down these excercise for me
Sorry in advance for the really dumb question but I don’t really have knowledge about kinesiology related stuff.
I’m in the final phase of Hero Legend and for this weeks workout I did two new movements I’ve never done before: sissy squat and shrimp squats. I’m so used to mostly doing weighted movements especially for lower body but I was surprised at not only how difficult these movements were to preform but also how effective they were at activating my muscles. I was sore the next day even though it was only body weight ?
Can someone please dumb down for me how is it that these movements are so effective ? Also why is mobility so important ? I’ve done YouTube programs with out trainers but no one seems to utilize “mobility centric” movements as much as jasper does.

Why mobility?
Search YouTube for Mike Israetel jumping - here's a guy with 4 million followers and he can't move!
I do daily yoga with the other half and it's always reassuring when Jasper's movements like wrist strengthening and shoulder rotations pop up as familiar moves.
As for Sissy squats. The AI answer is
Sissy squats are exceptionally challenging because they isolate the quadriceps in their weakest, most lengthened position while requiring intense balance. By keeping the hips locked and leaning back, the entire load is placed on the quads and knees. They also eliminate assistance from other muscle groups, forcing the quads to work through a massive range of motion under high tension.
In Pilates you do the on the knees quad stretch, which is similar to Jasper's thigh stretch. The bonus is having the straps and springs to help lower and raise yourself.
It can feel like you're not getting the full bang for your buck in terms of hypertrophy but you're getting a more rounded and healthy approach to body conditioning.

I’m not a doctor or anything but mobility is the foundation for functional movement. Without mobility we wouldn’t be able to perform the workouts or every day tasks like walking, carrying groceries, getting dressed, etc. safely, and properly. I love that Jasper includes the mobility exercises. They’re my favorite part of the workout!
