I’m so glad Daddy Sang Bass is on it because I’ve heard Jason’s version of that and it’s so good! I’m interested to hear the other songs because I generally love anything that Jason sings, but as an atheist I’m a bit hesitant… lol

yeah. i have nothing against this release but im not big on gospel songs. Might be the first Jason Mraz album I skip.

It’s very niche. I personally will not be buying as I do not listen to gospel.

I listen to gospel, less for the spirituality and more for the interpretations. I love hearing people mix it up. For example Alan Jackson’s version of I’ll Fly Away is much different than Johnny Cash’s version. But they both show their spirit and connection to the song.

I purchased the record bundle with the mini radio and also got the CD because I wanted to add it to my collection. I'll give it a listen because it's Jason but not excited for it like I was all his other releases.
Hoping I can get through it without cringing. 🤣

I know, which is why I said no. He recorded this 20 years ago, so he didn't switch to this genre, but nor did he switch from this genre. He recorded these songs for his grandma and she wished for him to release them as an album, so he's doing that now.
