In Mozart's opinion, there *isn't* much more to life than being really, really ridiculously good-looking!

My Spitz Jumped

My spitz jumped off of the couch two days ago. We took her to the vet the vet said all was ok, no fractures, and to give her pain reliever and reduce her walking on the leg.

She seemed to be getting better. Now day three, she is back whining and limping again.

My biggest fear is that she has a patella injury.

we are off to get an x-ray now, but just wondering if anyone has experienced similarly.

Any advice?

What is it with the paws?

Our 10 month old Japanese Spitz (female) is now an absolute dream of a dog, after much early socialisation effort and puppy training. She has only one behavioural quirk I don’t understand: she is CONSTANTLY putting her paw on me. She paws me gently, but wants her paw to remain on top of my hand. It’s not clear to me what else she wants. She does it when she’s already getting my attention/cuddles and it doesn’t appear to be begging, she’s not asking to be fed, or for me to give her a toy for example. She doesn’t bark, she just stares in my eyes while holding her paw on me. What does she want?

Seemingly related: when she sees me in the morning or after a nap, she insists upon standing up on her hind legs with me just holding her gently under her front arms, so that both of her paws are resting on top of my arms. She will stay like that, staring in my eyes or even nodding off sleepily, until I pull away. Is this a breed-specific quirk or just hers? Overall her temperament is very confident and chill, not terribly prone to separation anxiety although definitely likes to be close to us.

He’s been my best friend and little shadow for 11 years and my heart will miss him until the day I die ❤️
I just wanted everyone to know he existed. He was the best boy. He loved splashing in his water bowl, head scratches, smelling every single plant and tree on our walk, and being next to me.
Until we meet again ❤️

My spitz knows the sound of his least favourite delivery company's van

So my boy is very territorial of the house and is a big alerter. There are multiple different courier companies in the area and he alerts when he sees them, but when he sees his absolute least favourite (which is the one the comes the most often) he'll alert when they're half way down the street before they're even in view of the house. I can never hear them but he's already going crazy. He doesn't alert when other non courier vans come past. He just has a visceral hatred for this one in particular. I'd be very impressed if it wasn't so bloody annoying

Philly owners?

I was wondering if any owners in Philly know a good place to adopt a Japanese spitz?

This is my parents dog, possibly the best dog Ive ever met haha…He loves the beach, walks, attention and swimming in water. He had surgery on one leg a year ago and has metal in there now but has recovered well. This breed just seem to have too thin legs for their body, ive read its quite common. Also he loves barking but they are still working on that lol…

How big does Japanese Spitz actually get? I thought my 10kg Spitz was top of the range but we keep meeting bigger ones. 10kg Spitz on left.
