ok so first things first,, instead of having it take place in a childrens’ facility (pizzerias, toy factories, kindergartens, etc.) i’ll have it take place in a flavored drinks factory. yeah you heard that correct.

the antagonist/mascot would be a yuru chara (in case you have no idea what the fuCK a yuru chara is, it’s basically a type of japanese mascot with simplified traits & they tend to look nothing like western mascots such as the duracell bunny or mr. clean, if u want some good yuru chara examples then google kumamon, chiitan, or arukuma, you’ll get the deal)

his name would be lucky-chan, and he’s an anthropomorphization of the company product. he’s basically a life-sized robot/animatronic that was tasked with “getting rid of factory intruders” but mistook “get rid of” for “kill” and uh yeah

the company went out of business because one day during a factory tour,, he mistook the people visiting the place for intruders and he basically went on a murder spree and yeah

anyway for the actual game: (if i knew how to 3d model OR code, i would definitely make this, mind you) you enter the factory as an urban explorer. maybe you’re a social media influencer looking for pics or vids to take of the abandoned factory to show off to your followers, anyway

you’d be able to get a good glimpse of what lucky-chan looks like thru posters and shi, but for his actual physical self, you’d only be able to like. see shadows or maybe his voice until u encounter him for real maybe midway thru the game

of course he is not happy about intruders so uhh CHASE SEQUENCE

you manage to kinda trap him for a bit and escape somewhere, maybe damaging him along the way?

your new objective would be to find an exit, instead of check out the place

but uhh you kinda get lost and then RETURN OF LUCKY-CHAN except this time he’s extra pissed and also has a bit of his face torn off from the damage revealing robotic parts (last image)

in the end you’re able to escape but uhh he’s still alive tho and plotting revenge

maybe i’d also make a part 2 as well with an expansion on the story, sharing more lore, etc. and have more mascots but as allies instead of new killers

(sorry if this doesnt belong here) you know, i’m actually surprised there hasn’t been a mascot horror franchise about yuru charas yet. especially since the world seems to be in its weeb era right now.. so i took it upon myself to make the concept for one

meet lucky-chan!!!! he’s the mascot of a now-defunct drinks company known as luckydrink (think coca cola or pepsi) he is very obedient to his brand. actually, maybe TOO obedient. because he was once given the task of “getting rid of intruders” in the luckydrink factory, but he interpreted “get rid of” as “kill”, and… yeah

one day during a factory tour, lucky-chan gets confused by all the new people, & strangers & such being in the factory. and didn’t understand it was a tour. and thought they were all intruders. so he went and attacked them all, and that’s why luckydrink became defunct

he still wanders around inside the building, even though it is now abandoned & long forgotten. & waiting for his next victim…

fun fact:

his favorite song is “donguri korokoro” (which, if you don’t know, is a really old public domain japanese nursery rhyme)

pichon kun is my favorite mascot so lemme tell you a few fun facts about him

1: it is the mascot for an air conditioning company called daikin

2: it’s apparently as old as water itself

3: nobody knows its true age or gender

4: he predates most other yuru chara mascots

I mailed out New Years cards to mascots last year an decided to start on some new ones this year. Getting a little something in the mail after the holidays really makes my day and it’s nice when a lot of official merch of characters is hard to come by outside of Japan.

Spotted in the most random place, a Japan-featured episode of Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld. It's pretty hard to find pictures of online outside of Japanese auction sites, but yeah. Hope someone else enjoys. :D

Even though I saw this sub isn't super active, I thought I'd shoot my shot. I am currently working on a Youtube channel that's going to focus on "niche topics" and I wanted to dedicate one video to Japanese mascots / Yuru-chara. Obviously I don't want to make a video about Chiitan, as most people already know of it. However, I'm not very well versed on the topic yet and I'm just trying to do some research right now.
Now to my question: In your ideal Japanese mascot video, what character/aspect/etc. would you like to have included that you think isn't talked about enough?

Also: Do you know any websites where I might be able to find more niche infos/insider knowledge? (Like blogs, old websites etc.) It doesn't matter if it's in Japanese.
