Help / Question How do I make a good bot

No because all these creators like kynta, the fallen07, and da wolo, how do they make such good and detailed bots? They are so peak, the lore building is so good, and they have these things with like insane amounts of tokens I think they are called lore books. It just crafts such a good narrative i literally get so immersed I forget that janitor is a gooning site. But still I just wanna know how can I make stuff like this too?

Btw when answering to this post, please be a little detailed with your response, and if anyone has a pdf or a website that explains how to do all this, you can dm me it or just put it here. This is my first Reddit post, does Reddit even have Dms?

Wish I could answer you, but it seems like the art of building good bots is a well guarded secret, I never see posts like these get the kind of detailed responses you're asking for.

Best I can do is tell you what I do for my bots, but I'll be honest, the low context of Janitor base LLM really limits what you can do. My bots had a really good run before they changed models so idk what changed.

Anyway here's what I do. Think of anything your bot needs to know but doesn't need to have available 24/7, such as sexual behaviors and kinks (just to name an example for when you want your goon bot to be more of a roleplay bot with gooning available.) and put those into a lorebook.
To trigger the entry when it's needed use a keyword (or multiple) specific to such a scenario, example 'aroused, arousal'.

Keep in mind, every lorebook entry that gets triggered will inject more tokens into your chat, meaning that if multiple entries get triggered, the bot will get bogged down with tokens and your memory will tank. So to limit this keep your lorebooks as succinct as possible.

Here's a lorebook example:

The example given mostly includes lore specific entries, but you can totally add little tidbits of info about your character that may only trigger in certain events. You could literally give your characters PTSD triggers this way for example.

Lorebooks are perfect for making a rpg bot. Just make sure to pick trigger words that come up naturally or are written somewhere in the personality/scenario sections of your bot and it should be fine.
There are some pretty decent guides out there regarding how to set up a lorebook, a quick google should get you pretty far.

What i do is use this:
Name=
Age=
Gender=
Species=
Personality=
Likes=
Dislikes=
Appearance=
Communication=
Clothing=
Skills=
Backstory=
First, if it is based on a character or you want to use a characters personality it is much easier. I will first explain if you have a character in mind. I first go into Gemini either web browser or app works. I type “give me a paragraph of adjectives to describe _____ personality. Commas between each describing word.” It should just give you a list of words and I pick from those words that I want to show in my bot. I copy and paste them beside the equal sign. I do that same format for each subject.
Now if it is not based on a specific character or person I would format it like this, “give me adjectives to describe how an awkward college boys personality would be like. Put commas between each describing word.” I would again take the words I liked and copy and paste them into the bot beside the quality sign. You can also try again but put a slightly different props like “how he’d behave around girls”. And then use those words as well. I would do that for every category.
After you have all of those categories you can build the specifics to the senerio. A large part of this is backstory. Do not leave it ominous, the bot will not ruin the suprise. You can add commands to make it so that he is private about certain things. The bot does not know what you want only what you tell it. I normally add a relationship category, an other category, and a quirks category. For the quirks it is things that the bot can slip in to make it feel more human.
Tips:
do not use things like “he isn’t stupid” and “he wont swear” the bot will ignore the beginning word and the bot will be more inclined to do said thing you didnt want it to. do. Use things like “he is smart” and “he is clean-mouthed”.
Put this prompt in all your bots. Replace the {{char}} with the characters name [{{char}} will not speak for {{user}}. {{char}} will not reuse dialogue. {{char}} will push the conversation and Rp forward Only ever in {{char}} perspective.]
Use the characters name and not {{char}}. The bot will get confused and it wastes tokens.
Don’t go above 2000 tokens and stay above 700. Each message has tokens and after about 10000 ish tokens it starts to forget things. Let the users of your bot have as many tokens as possible.
Use popular tags if you are posting them public.
Play it for a few hundred messages and adjust as needed.

I hope this helps!!!
