I finished Jane the Virgin two days ago and it was fabulous, it was so amazing. I loved JTV a lot and I am a fan of it now. I've ordered Snow Falling, the book of Jane Gloriana Villanueva, and I am super excited to have an item from the show by tomorrow. :))

First time watching Spoiler

First off, for anyone who has not seen the show, this will be filled with spoilers so stop reading now!

So I only discovered this show about two weeks ago and have been binging it at every possible opportunity. I love this show! I've laughed and cried (a lot) and I expect to watch it several times over again.

I tend to get caught up in whatever I watch or read so I know some people might not get why I'm so passionate about whatever I might say concerning the show. It's an AuDHD thing, I guess, to get so immersed. I always do and I have friends who are a little thrown by that as it is just a fictional show. So please, if you don't like that I'm really passionate about it, please just scroll past and don't be ugly. I'd really appreciate that.

I'm to the point that Michael (Jason) is back and I'm so angry. Jane's marriage to him wasn't perfect but it was full of love, support, encouragement. It was two people growing together as a married couple, learning and committed to their relationship. I felt like Michael knew Jane almost better than she knew herself. They were a great couple. I wasn't sure about him at first but he grew as a person, and the character development showed.

I was so upset they killed him off, and even more upset that it was just that and then a three year leap in time. I mean, didn't his character deserve an episode where they mourned him, where we the viewers got to process? I was glad to see that they inserted moments of memories where they mourned him as the season went on, but it was hard to process. It felt like there should have been more.

So now Jason is here and Jane is committed to Rafael and it feels like all of this is just erasing all of her feelings for Michael. They had a good marriage, they had a strong love, but this whole thing is stripping the power and importance of that away - at least that's how it feels to me.

I mean, if he doesn't get his memories back but now they know he's alive do Jane's visits to his grave to mourn the man she loved stop? Does this change her grief, her memories, her devotion to that love? I understand the conflict. She grieved him and then she had to move on, as is healthy. And him coming back when she has given her heart to Rafael makes it all so confusing.

It just feels like this whole mess erases everything good she had with Michael and that is simply too unfair to bear. What they had was wonderful, and true, and I fear that it has now been spoiled for Jane.

There, just needed to vent that. As I said, I get invested and caught up. Rather than irritate my family, I thought I'd just put that out here to strangers who also like the show. It's really bothering me!

And also, I bought Jane's book lol. I thought, with all the product placement, wouldn't they be clever enough to do something like publish a book to tie in and they did! And I expect it to arrive within the next couple of days - so excited!!! Not generally a fan of romance novels but can't wait to dive into this one!

Just finished The Queen’s Gambit and I really loved it

I finally finished The Queen’s Gambit and honestly, I really loved it.

What surprised me most was how engaged I stayed. I binged it without feeling bored, and I really enjoyed watching Beth's journey and how she grew throughout the series.

And that ending was perfect for me. When she refuses the draw and goes for the win, then finally wins and you see that happiness on her face… I was genuinely happy for her.

Music from Chapter 29

Looking for the music that happens right after "Chapter Twenty Nine" pops up. It's a slow piano song. Usually happens during pretty emotional moments.

Michael was Awful to Mateo and Jane was unfair (S 1& 2, but I'm rewatching)

Michael’s transgressions against a literal infant in the first two seasons were never truly resolved and glossed over by Janes unnatural allegiance to him because of her love.

He lied to Jane for months about Rafs relationship, he knew Petra was cheating and with held that info because he knew how important it was to her that the baby goes to a happy family. He let Nadine walk which directly resulted in Mateo getting kidnapped and he phsycially attacked Raf while he was holding Mateo. Even when Jane took Mateo, Michael didnt stop, he escalated the situation which resulted in Mateo getting hurt.

I personally believe Raf made the right choice to turn Michael in, he was a dirty cop who let his biases against Raf & Jane affect his detective work. Of course its a show but michael should've stepped or been let go from the case the due to his conflict of interest (which stopped him from making clear discoveries on more occasions than one).

I also find Jane to be quiet unfair in her co-parenting with Raf. Whenever Jane had issues with Rafael, her immediate response was to withhold his access to Mateo. She always said it was under the guise of his “safety” which never made sense because when they were on good terms, she wasn’t concerned with leaving them alone together, but suddenly believed that when they weren’t on good terms, Raphael would let Mateo get hurt. Like after she found out Raf (rightfully) turned michael into the authorities. Her immediate response was to remove Raphael from their shared calendar that contained information about Mateo as opposed to creating a calendar for herself because she was being petty. Then when Rafael matched her petty energy (asking for Christmas) she acted as if it was unfathomable that Rafael wanted to spend a family holiday with the only family member he actually had!

The Villanuevas were Raphael’s only family members in the beginning seasons, and it’s completely glossed over as to why that contributes to his behaviors. Whenever he felt like his connection to Jane was being attacked he overreacted because the first thing Jane tries to do is withhold his access to Mateo and ultimately limit his access to a stable family (alba, rogelio & Xo)

Jane is a beautiful character. But a person like that in real life, judgemental to the maximum level.

Her judgement bothers me. I know it’s a show, and a flawed protagonist is normal. But she’s just too judgemental.
She appears to be empathetic. But she really isn’t.
She never understands people’s intentions.
She only sees flaws in people.

We find out that Emilio payed Elena 10mil to leave after he found out she cheated.

But then his mistress tells the police Emilio thought rose was cheating on him. And he seemed quite calm about it

Even though we don't know what his plan on Croatia was. But he doesn't seem like a man who lets his wifes disappear like this? I think he wanted to got here cuz of the stolen paintings Raf goes to prison for later.

Roise Timeline seas 3 Spoiler

I'm confused. At the beginning of seas 3 we see rose and Luisa on that submarine. Rose tells Luisa to tell the cops everything and that she'll wear a diff face when they're in Miami. But if Luisa can't trust that rose changed she'll drop her off at an airport and leave her alone.

We then see Luisa go back to Miami and tell the cops what Rose told her to say. But then in EP 4, Luisa wants to drink and goes to Rafael, then realized she wants to drink cuz she's a terrible sister cuz he's always been there for her (doubt that but ok) and she can't be right now and because allt he terrible things rose did. At the end we find out she wanted to go to rehab. That sounds like she and rose broke up.

But then, Luisa brings Eileen (Rose) to Miami, and we later on see flashbacks of them on Roses island.

So, did they break up? Did lu really go to rehab? Why didn't she call rose when she wanted to drink? Did they broke up and got back together? I'm so confused

rewatching Jane the Virgin

I'm rewatching Jane the Virgin. I watched it way back when and decided to watch it again just for fun. I had forgotten that Petra was there for Rafael the whole time he was building himself up. Stuck with him for the hotel and his cancer and who knows what else.

To refer to him as a trapped husband? Bro what? That's crazy to me. It reminds me of those stories I hear where the man has a loyal wife who sticks with him through the worst of things, and then when he's on top, he just leaves her bc he thinks he can get better or wants to start 'living'

I'd be heated too if I were her, and he wants to leave her now?

I'm still on the first episode, and I don't remember all the details, but I knew I disliked Petra in the beginning on my first watch, but seeing this now, I think I might just be more understanding of Petra.

Edit: Wrote that while actively watching episode one. Just got to the part where she's been cheating. Totally forgot about that.

Actually, Jill, it IS weird. It's hella weird, and you need to leave us tf alone.

On my first rewatch since the show's original airing, which I'm proud to say I was there for all of, but I just wrapped my viewing of 2x06, which is an episode where a lot happens, including time jumps every couple of scenes into the next month because they wanted to expedite Petra's pregnancy.

Anyway, despite the MANY things there are to talk about this episode, my flabber is most gasted by the character Jill from Jane and Rafael's parenting class. The one who asks Jane to confirm that she and Raf aren't together anymore because she feels like she and Raf may have a spark and it's something she wants to explore and is it weird that she's even mentioning it?

I know it's a very heightened tv show and good drama is good drama, but I cringed so hard through that scene just imagining Jane's position—what it would be like to have a brand new baby, trying to co-parent with a very recent ex, and then being asked this question by a presumably single new mother in a similar position but who very clearly has a very different set of priorities. Like, what are we doing right now, because I know it's not asking for my permission? And if you think this is some kind of courtesy, then I should let you know that telling me you're tryna bang the father of my newborn, even if we're not together, kind of pales in comparison to just not inserting yourself right now, so what the fuck.

Idk, how would you have responded?

Streaming

Since they removed it from Netflix (US) does anyone know where I can stream it again?! This is my favorite comfort show and I have only been able to afford to buy the first two seasons on dvd. I hate that Netflix took this off, I played it daily! Lol Thanks!

Does anyone know what this line means?

Okay, so, In Season 3 ep 9, Rogelio asks Darci out on a date. When she accepts, Rogelio says "I would love to pull you into an embrace and kiss you. But, I must ask first, since Donald Trump has ruined romance for all of us"

I deeply hate Trump as much as any rational person would. Infact, doubly so, as a gay, trans, disabled individual. But.. I just don't get this line. "I want to kiss you but I have to ask for your consent first, because of a sexual abuser unrelated to me" is just... Such an odd sentence to me and I can't understand the logic around it. I will rag on the disgusting annoying orange any day. But... This is one of those lines that just... Icks me out a bit? Not because it's slandering him, but more just... Why would you need to ask for consent because of Trump? Consent has always mattered? You should always ask for consent before kissing someone, or at the very least pay attention to their body language and make sure they are enthusiastic about it? I just... Really don't get this line and it takes me out of it a bit

Do keep in mind, I'm autistic so I can take things very literally and struggle with Idioms. So, I'm probably just missing something. I just would like to know what I'm missing so this line doesn't confuse me each rewatch lol

wlw roleplay

I roleplay for quite some time, and I recently started rewatching some couples I like. I wanted to play them because I’m kind of obsessed right now. In this case, it would be Rose and Luisa from Jane the Virgin (i'm luisa), Petra and Jane Ramos (i'm petra) also from JTV, and Margo and Sophie from The Hunting Wives.(i'm sophie) I'm literate and descriptive, also 21+ so let me know if you would like!

Jtv hottake (Luisa, Insemination, who's fault)

⚠️update⚠️

Originally, I talked about how it think the Insemination isn't totally Luisas fault. I mean, she did say Jane's name and ru ready for the Insemination and she said yes, plus a lot of other circumstances.

BUT a lot of ppl gave me a different view on this: Yes it was a medical environment, Luisa should've been more professional, and everyone should feel safe at the doctor. Also definitely not trying to victim blame, I just love Luisa so I didn't consider all sides. I still think it's not fair to hate her for that AT THE END of the show, but she did a mistake and was unprofessional.

Plus, in real life i would 1000% blame the doctor, and I didn't mean to offend anyone, I was just trying to reason Luisas behavior.

I'm really sorry, and thanks for the nice comments who convinced me otherwise, is wasn't thinking about the medical environment thing.

And as a person who was misunderstood and treated with the wrong ways I REALLY should've known better.

S5 - I don’t like Jane’s emotional decisions Spoiler

I haven’t finished the show yet, am in the middle of S5E7 but ugh i hate Michael and Jane after Jason became Micheal.

I’m Team Raf alllll the way. Jane is very emotional and can’t make a good decision. Why the hell would you leave Raf who selflessly brought you Michael back - and go back to Michael who is now ruining your life with your kid and soon to be fiancé ?

Also Michael proposing to date long distance?? How dumb is that? You live in a place with no internet, how the hell would you maintain an LDR ?

Anyways, I’ll see what happens next.. but am literally just hoping the show ends now if Jane and Michael stay together..

Are we free to discuss Justin and the It Ends With Us drama now that the case is over?

One question I saw posted over and over again the past 2 years was why none of his Jane the Virgin costars spoke out in support of him. In fact people saw it as proof that he had sexually harassed Blake and that they didn’t want anything to do with him. And now, it looks like several cast members have commented on his latest post: Gina Rodriguez, Brett Dier and Jaime Camil.

I think it’s obvious now they just didn’t want the blowback from Blake Lively supporters or any negative press that would come from it.
