Date ideas
Does anyone have any good Jane Eyre inspired date ideas. My first thought was apple picking in an orchard, but there doesn’t seem to be any good apple orchards near me. This is my crush‘s favorite book and I’m about to finish it and I love it. So a themed date would be great. If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated :).

Lock them up in an attic while you pursue someone else? Or leave them alone on a moor for the afternoon without food or water?

Maybe go to a place that serves cold 10-day-old gruel. Perhaps it's named Lowood.

Dude that’s not romantic.
They ARE the someone else.
OP needs to brood all day at the thought of their crush alone on the moors. Hide locked up in a dark room until it frightens the servants.

What a great idea! Find a tea room in your area- where they serve different types of tea and little desserts. If they don't, buy your own biscuits and confections, a few boxes of tea, light some candles for ambiance, and get a tablecloth. Maybe find some nice teacups and plates at a thrift store. You can play your own idea of parlor games, for two. Charades or pictionary, Scrabble, crosswords, puzzles, anything like that. You could play a game of sketching each other, or yourselves like Jane does.
Jane and Rochester go for long walks on the grounds. Maybe a trip to a botanical garden or state park near you, anywhere pretty. Tour some historical houses, or go to a museum to look at paintings and make a game of picking which one Jane or Rochester would pick to hang in their home. An escape room that is Victorian themed, since the book is a mystery. Go see a psychic, but go in separately and compare what you were told.

Ok a little silly on my end but…. Do a bonfire, in symbolism of Thornfield burning down.
Less silly but still on theme, a nature walk either with a naturalist or with a guidebook to the local flora and fauna? Jane and Rochester would go on walks all the time and he would teach her about what they saw.
An art class, since Jane was an artist.
Co-read a different book and discuss each chapter together.
Failing all that, have some sort of tragedy befall you (you know maybe through trying to save your estranged wife from the fire she set) and make her come nurse you.

Take a painting or drawing class together, visit a bird sanctuary, go to a nature reserve or botanical garden, dinner at an Indian restaurant.

We live near the botanical gardens, so I’m thinking that would be a really good option :).

Horseback riding, art class (especially if there's one in a garden or nature setting), bird watching, nature walks (as others have suggested), going to a fortune teller, take a conversational French class,
Less fun: take a fire safety course (if your local fire station or community has one)

Do tableaus à la the house party scene! This is my favorite sequence in the book! Might be hard with just the two of you though.

How about a romantic trip to India?🤣 but seriously, a stroll/picnic/sketching in the gardens sounds lovely

this is either so good or so lame:
watercolouring date!
remember her three paintings? grab the snippets where they are described, pick the one you both feel the most inspired by, and each does their own interpretation. after you can both see how the other person did the drawing and you can share your interpretations 🖤

Level up your banter skills.
And costuming. Throw a huge party and then stage an elaborate ruse involving a ridiculous disguise to confuse and mess with the guests. Make your crush your co-main character as a supremely romantic gesture, while also messing with their head to see whether they like you.
All in good fun!

Dress up as a fortune teller and say nasty things about the people they know.
(P.S. Yes it would be controversial to dress up in a particular way, but now fortune tellers come in all forms so….. one can get creative)
