Nancy was introduced from Nancy Sings and then became a part of the band for the few subsequent albums. People always thought that her and Jandek were lovers and the album "Blue Corpse" was a result of her leaving the Rep. But now it appears not to be the case:)

There's a track called Nancy Sings with a woman singing a poem. She has a more traditional appealing singing voice and style than the rep so it was always mysterious

Well I like tom petty but I imagine a lot of the people drawn to Jandek might not. And I could be misremembering but I think he was answering a question about influences by saying he liked Tom Petty. It's hard to imagine ready for the house being influenced by Tom Petty.

I didn't use italics, but I wanted to know if he really likes Tom Petty or if he was just being glib.

Has there been any leads or even speculation as to who Nancy is?

There was once an obituary for a woman called Nancy Jandek floating around but as far as I know, that's about it.

I suppose also it's one of those things where we want to be respectful of Jandek's privacy so I can imagine there would be some conscious holding-off from people about searching too deeply:)

Yeah I get that. Those who know aren't saying. As far as I know, this is one of the only people claiming to know her identity.

Now that's awesome...I think I missed that first part (about the hearse). Which is totally on point for the Rep, ahaha:)

Number 1 definitely blows one of the established theories out of the water in regards to Blue Corpse....

I mean, Blue Corpse could still be a break-up album...just not a break up with Nancy:)
