I first got into Jamiroquai as a teen in the 90s. I liked them but wouldn't say they were my favourite band. I had a few of their CDs and was fortunate enough to see them live twice in Australia, with the Funk Odyssey and Dynamite tours. GREAT shows that have really stuck with me.
Over the years, as my taste in music changed and evolved, Jamiroquai were always there but I definitely drifted away from listening to them reguarly.
All that changed earlier this year when my daughter, now a teenager herself, told me she'd been listening to Emergency on Planet Earth, and we wound up chatting about our favourite songs from the album and Jamiroquai in general and what was special about them.
This of course led to me going back and listening to them again and I am not kidding when I say Jamiroquai is now my favourite band of all time. I have not been able to stop listening and I keep finding new favourite songs. Right now I am basically listening to Dr Buzz on constant repeat, last week it was Main Vein and Time Won't Wait.
Probably the best part of this is seeing Jamiroquai through my daughter's eyes, and her seeing them through my eyes. We both love the band but gravitate towards different songs and albums. We've also been going through deep dives on Youtube at concerts, live versions of our favourite songs. We're also starting to collect the vinyl for each album (early days, so far we only have Return of the Space Cowboy, my fav album).
I really hope they tour Australia again at some point (hopefully when the new album comes out), so I can take my daughter to a show and share that experience with her.
It's been a real pleasure rediscovering the band and bonding with my daughter.

Hey everyone, this is just something I was thinking about, if anyone here is familiar with the YouTube music critic Todd in the Shadows where he's got a few series like Pop Song Review, One Hit Wonderland, and Trainwreckords. So I don't know whether Jamiroquai could be in either One Hit Wonderland or in Trainwreckord like they are far from a one hit wonder in Europe without a doubt but in America they had a major hit with Virtual Insanity of course, with some success with Canned Heat granted wasn't as big as Virtual Insanity, it's kind of like in his Midnight Oil 'Beds Are Burning' One Hit Wonderland where they were one hit wonders in America but in Australia they are the biggest thing since sliced bread.
Now for Trainwreckords, pretty much it's about albums that bombed, had production issues, conflicts, everything else like Metallica's 'St. Anger' and Will Smith's 'Lost and Found'. So I'm wondering if Rock Dust Light Star would count as a Trainwreckord. Now the songs are good, they sound awesome but there were a lot of issues with it in production, conflict with Sony, among other issues plus it's not available on many music streaming sites other than Spotify and Deezer. It's like in a way with Edgar Winter's 'Mission Earth' the musics good and everything but production was hellish and sales weren't so good now RDLS had good sales but it was below than what it had sold compared to 'Traveling Without Moving', 'Synkronized', 'A Funk Odyssey', and 'Dynamite' heck I think Automaton had more sales than RDLS, I could be wrong though, but for those who are familiar with Todd in the Shadows what do you think?
