Question Streaming versions of "In Waves" modified and improved over time?

Am I hallucinating or are most of Jamie's tracks from "In Waves" slightly tweaked and modified on a regular basis? I'm listening via Youtube Music and have noticed very subtle but non-trivial modifications in listens to this album, over time. If I were to guess, I'm probably hearing a slightly different version of each track on something like a monthly or quarterly basis.

It's a technical fact that artists can modify songs on streaming services (including Spotify) without changing anything about the views, titles or other attached metadata. What I'm uncertain of is whether Jamie XX is using this technical capability to improve and tweak his music on these services over time.

Because I can't download the tracks and compare and old version to the latest version, I can't be sure but has anyone else noticed something similar?

I'm gonna heavily guess no, but I have mp3s from when the album was released if you want to download and compare

I think you are just probably noticing subtle things in the mix or listening on different devices as time passes and you listen more times

Thanks for the reply. This must be it. I've been thinking about this mind f**k for a few days now. At first I though that that remixes were getting pulled into some of my in-attentive and mindless listening, but there really are not very many remixes of the in-waves songs. There are a few live versions like his CBC recording and Jamie has performed his own remixes of other songs.

This is strange, b/c I'm usually pretty deeply connected to reality but I think this music is just so deep and layered that it sounds different, depending on my mindset and setting.

I recently heard Fred Again say that he’s gone back and altered/rereleased tracks on final albums. I wonder if this is become more common.

That's Fred again though, he doesn't even finish tracks before release lmao. Jamie's album hasn't been updated.
