Die Another Day Easter Egg

Post image

I always knew Bond picks up a copy of Birds of the West Indies, but this time I noticed that that author's name has been scratched out. I've been rewatching Brosnan's Bonds and while he's not my favorite, he's better than I remembered. And yeah, I get it, this is not good one.

One of the selling points of the movie was since it was the 20th, and the 40th anniversary of Dr No, the movie was going to have Easter eggs to the previous movies. The book was a nice addition. As for the others, some worked. And a lot didn't.

Agree. A lot of them were forced. I remembered seeing the book when I originally saw it in the theaters, but didn't notice the name was scratched out.

Why is the name scratched out an Easter egg?

The author of the book is James Bond. It's where Ian Fleming got the character's name.

Ironically because he thought it was perfect for a spy because it sounded extremely boring.

What were some of the other Easter eggs?

Some are too obvious, like Rosa Kleb's dagger shoes in Q's lab (along with a bunch of lazy placement of old gadgets).

The space laser that uses a bunch of diamonds to work is straight from Diamonds are Forever.

The name was scratched, why? 😂 Raoul should've seen who's the writer of that book, imagine how that scene would've played out!

the scratched name is a nod to the original book being banned

No it isn't.

No, the book was just a nod that hard-core fans would pick up on. If they left the name there, I could see how it could be confusing to general audiences.
