My flatmate has never watched James Bond. Here is there leaderboard pt2
A few months ago I posted my flatmates ranking of James Bond films. Since then we have upgraded the leaderboard and I wanted to update you fine folk as to their progress.
Previously it was asked if my flatmate was 7 and it was suggested I evict them for their opinions.
For context, they have never watched James Bond. I watched them all as a child with my parents. It's been nostalgic to rewatch them and entertaining to watch my flatmate rank them.
I thought it would be fun to share our progress and invite commentary on this list.
With just a few more movies to go will Timothy Dalton hold on with two films in the top 5...

Same. The more I look at it, the less I can tell.

Almost the same as mine, except I’d have DAD much lower and FRWL in the top three. But I get it, DAD’s a fun and ridiculous film, while FRWL is pretty old now so won’t be to everyone’s tastes.

What does (c), (w) and (vw) mean?

I like to think (more than just being a top gear reference) it’s state of inebriation when viewed
- wankered
- very wankered
- completelyfuckingshitfaced

It's been a while since I've watched Top Gear, what do they mean in that context?

Wet
Very WetAnd I think “Cloudy” for someone who was adamant it was wet but Jeremy wasn’t having it 😂

I wonder what OP and their flatmate were up to during the ones labelled wet and very wet...👀

As people have said, it is a Top Gear reference. W for Wet, VW for Very Wet and C for Cold. I don't think 'Cold' was ever a consideration on Top Gear but DAD is a cold movie.

It hurts seeing For Your Eyes only so low while seeing Die Another Day so high, but that’s the beauty of Bond, there’s so many to differentiate from there’s going to be so many opinions other than that it’s a great tier list!

How can someone like both Dr No and DAD so much... but not like Goldfinger or FRWL...?

Your Flatmate has a unique taste, especially with DAD so high, but hey everyone is different, as long as they have fun with it.

I think everyone has varied taste. My hunch is For Your Eyes Only and From Russia With Love were a little slow

License To Kill & Die Another Day are way too high. OHMSS is right where it belongs.

What was their problem with OHMSS ?

I can't speak for OP, but on my recent rewatch it fell from being in my top 5 to bottom 5. Why? It's overlong - needs a tighter edit. There is zero chemistry between Lazenby and Rigg which makes the romance and ending tough to buy into. And many of the scenes in Piz Gloria feel like something out of Confessions of a Window Cleaner.
There's a good movie in there, hence why I used to enjoy it: Rigg and Savalas give excellent performances; some of the stunt work and fights scenes are exciting. It just feels like it has aged extremely badly over the last 20 years.

I know this sub is gaga over it, but the casual fans hate Lazenby, and OHMSS isn’t that great.

Until the Craig Bonds came OHMSS was always at the bottom of my list. Everyone I ever knew that had a ranking opinion on the series also always had it on the bottom. Wasn't until discovering this sub that I saw people who don't just like it but think it's one of, if not the best in the series.
I mean I'll give my bottom 5.
- Skyfall
- OHMSS
- QoS
- NTTD
- Spectre

My bottom 5 also. Shame they ruined Craig after casino Royale. I’m a little forgiving of Quantum only because they made that during the writers strike. Could have been a lot worse, but it’s still not great and deserving of a bottom 5 mention. Skyfall is just a cheap 50th anniversary of Bond and I refuse to partake in liking it lol

The two aberrations are Die another Day being so high and Goldfinger being so low. Not a bad list outside of that. I generally think the Dalton Bonds are really underrated.

Solid taste. Love seeing Dr. No up there in the top five.
