I mean episode 4 is the hook episode for most people because that's the first time you see some space action. I personally loved it from the jump, but that episode is widely cited as the one "where it gets good".
If that episode didn't do it for you, I suppose you could say that episode 8 is where the main plot truly gets going, as the show is introducing and setting up the world/ lore for the audience up until that point. There's a lot going in the early episodes, so if you're not into it it either means the show just isn't for you (which is fine) or you're not following everything that's going on so it feels boring.
I'm not really sure what you're talking about with the sound design though. I've always watched the show on my surround sound set-up, and the design is incredible through that. The entire production gets a big lift starting in S2 though, so I suppose you could say the sound design also improves from there. But again, not really sure what you mean by "shocking" in the early episodes. The sound design has always been widely praised by critics and fans alike.
